The simple facts are that we are in for him. Weather or not we get him depends on a lot of factors. But the fact we are at the top table in regards to players is enough for me. We do have 2 of his close team mates mendy being a good friend and for an 18 year old will mean a lot to have familiar faces about the place. Lets see how it all pans out

The briefings have seen some of the reporters adopt the default of bid made and fee whatever they want it to be.

City won't want to leave their arse hanging out if it makes us look bad and he chooses Madrid.

The lads in America clearly couched their words, it has then been over-egged, as per usual by some over here.

The main worry about missing out on Mbappe is that it could mean united get Bale. Bale would make a huge difference to them even if his injury record last season wasn't great. Real could easily get £100m from little Ed meaning they could sign Mbappe for £150m or so and still turn a profit in the transfer market.

That is my preferred option. Maybe Mbappe if he had a couple of years under his belt, but not 100+mil after a good 12 months

Bale ain't going anywhere.

He recently signed a new deal, loves the life and it would cost Madrid tens of millions to push him out the door.

Madrid and United aren't exactly the best of negotiating partners, either.

For the record, if we knew Mbappe only wanted Madrid and Bale was willing to leave Spain...

I think you might also find we would already be at the front of that particular queue.

Would probably be the easiest deal of the lot for us to complete, considering the relations the various parties.

There's a reason Mourinho is sucking on a lemon - expectation management - he knows he can't get anyone of any note so is already talking up how great his squad is.
