Why do we need a home grown defender? Let's get it right we are choosing to have a home grown defender because we'd rather make those compromises with the defence than the attack.
 
I can't fathom why we are seemingly willing to spend over £20m on a 29 year old who will be our fourth choice centre back. I'd be surprised - and a bit concerned - if he starts over 20 games across all competitions.

I bet Evans has been on your list of possible's all Summer Marv? If you had drawn up a list of 20 CB's how high would he have been? Bet he wouldn't have even been on your list. If Wenger rated him so highly why hasn't he fucking bought him then ffs.

Leicester City got MacGuire from Hull City for a reported £12 million (£17 million if all the add ons eventually get paid)
 
£140k a week lol. It gets even better. Why not just make him the new club captain and finish the joke.

Because they were quoted £25m and that was last season, but as far as I can gather they enquired about him. Check it out yourself.

I didn't think about Evans before, but now his name's linked I think he'd be a good fit. When we won the title under Pellegrini we had nastasic and Demichelis as back up. He'd be a 4th choice defender. And he is a lot better than you think.
 


I can see the reasoning behind this transfer but for £25m i'd tell them to sling it.


I think Gibson would be worth the gamble and he'd be cheaper.

Who gives a shit what wenger thinks of Evans? Wenger hasn't managed to put a decent defence out for years.

Hilarious to see the absolute meltdown by some. We're spending 25 million on evans. You think he is shit? Fair enough, i expect he will prove you wrong but some will never be happy. Too much money? Definitely, but i bet gibson would cost upwards of 30 and is an inferior player. In fact, gibson isnt even good with the ball so why everyone seems to want him i have no idea. Acting like the club is in disarray cos of one signing you dont like is pathetic.

£140k a week for Evans? This just gets worse, what are we doing? Next it will be a 3year contract on top of those wages to ensure we can't get rid if he flops badly.
