Game of Thrones

My answers to your questions:

After watching Episode 6 last night I have a somewhat contradictory feeling about GoT; it's brilliantly entertaining and I love watching it, but my god the writing and scripting can be shoddy. I really wish they had spread it over 10 episodes rather than rushing through it. It used to be a clever and witty show about politics and war within a fantasy realm; now, it is purely fantasy (I love fantasy, but GoT was always about more than that).

The directors could have easily done 10 seasons but they refused to do any more, even though HBO were willing to give them as much as they needed (funding wise).... they wanted to get it done ASAP as they have other projects they want to work on.

The two directors don't get paid per season, as they probably would have done it if they did. So my guesses was they didn't want to pump out the extra 2 seasons for the same amount of pay, even though story wise it probably would have worked out better.

Thanks Man and agree .... to clarify -

"why didn't the night king use the magic spheres he had all along instead of standing around waiting for the ice to freeze" -" Not sure what spheres you mean"

When the night king kills the dragon he launches what appears to be a spear(maybe makes more sense now its spelt correct lol) and kills it with a perfect shot from a great distance, and just misses another dragon on another attempt after walking back to get another one, so assuming he was armed with a couple of these - the team were sitting ducks in the middle of the lake, why not use these to kill them and march on

season 7 has great action and it was good to start of with but its disappointing now, directors are not doing justice to the story line that was steadily built in the preceding seasons.

One thing to take into account about the nights king, and it probably won't get touched on in the tv show. But they area civilization, with a city...they aren't just a mindless hoarde of dead people....

That said, looks to me like he knew the first thing that would happen when they surrounded them is that dany would turn up with the dragons. Maybe he has some three eye crown power?

*Mod warning applied

I've been saying since season 4 that my guess is that Bran is one of many people in the song of ice and fire lore..... Bran being the night king being one of them, makes sense about the relationship between knights king and Bran.

Anyone know if there's any truth to the rumour that the 6 episodes scheduled for the 8th and final season are all extended (ie 90 mins to 2 hours, rather than an hour)?

2hrs tv, probably equates to 100mins of action but it has been confirmed by hbo,'however I thought it was only 5???

Strong rumours, as posted earlier, that there's an agreement for cinema release on a weekly basis!

I'll be gutted if there's only 5 episodes, albeit that equates to 8 or 9 current episodes length wise. I'd love to see it in the cinema. A great shame they didn't do it earlier. Imagine Battle of the Bastards, Hardholme or Sons of the Harpy on a a screen that size. I think I'd camp out overnight!

In the last episode Jamie was falling 20 metres down to the river floor in his heavy suit of armour.
His saviour Bron sinking fast alongside him.

In the episode we just watched how in the name of sanity did they both surface at least half a mile away gasping for air at the rivers edge.
Has anyone tried to swim in heavy armour whilst concussed.
And how was there not a sniff of the battle with all being eerily silent.

I used to be a member of the ABC Minors saturday morning cinema sessions in the sixties in Rochdale.

Batman would have been tied to a bench and a circular saw would be inches away from his knackers as we all squeeled with utter delight.
Would this be the end for Batman ..sadly we all had to wait until the next episode to find out.
The following week the circular saw would appear twenty foot away to allow the caped crusader to weave his magic.

Have we not progressed boys and girls ?
Jamie and Bron were dead I saw them both sink to the bottom !

Its also a series where, amongst other things......dragons,dark magic and an army of undead exist......just enjoy it :-)

Dragons dark magic and the existence of the undead is a thread topic in it's own right.
I enjoy all that is Sword And Sorcery and this is the best TV to ever grace our screens.
I was talking more about the continuity side of things.
He is not Marine Boy and can't breath under water unless he is in cahoots with the dark queen.

Back in my jousting days I had the misfortune to fall from my steed into the Manchester ship canal, I think I was pushed but that's another story, anywho, it was no mean feet dragging ones self out with the hinderance of alloy and an empty discos crisp packet over the vaser, I still have nightmares as it wasn't cheese and onion...

Poor showing from HBO, at least research ffs - I had the same feeling after JS was brought back, it didn't reflect my personal experience one bit and let me tell you, death is no laughing matter, I've died 3/4 times now and the idea that you just get on with it is ludicrous. Personally I'd of liked to see JS receive some therapy to give a more realistic spin!

I would agree with this, the first four or five season particularly with Joffrey was the best tv I've watched but the writing has definitely declined in quality and I'm not a fan of the increasing use of Deus ex machina. Having said the its the still the best show on television as the story is so fascinating and unpredictable.

What a pile of shit.

so it took gendry about half an hour to run a couple of days worth of walking. It took the raven another couple of hour to get all the way to dragonstone. Danny, although saying she needed proof before she would act, decides to fuck that off and believe a message delivered by raven and immediately heads north and luckily the dragon only takes another hour or two to get there in time to save the day.

Then where do they get the massive chains from and how did they wrap them around the dragons head? Oh and luckily there was a boat in the new ocean by the wall to take Danny and John home....

It's been so good up till now but they are really ruining it. It's just nonsense. If his books weren't so mind numbingly boring and confusing I'd stop watching and wait for it to be done properly.

the show has gotten so popular they've really had to dumb down the writing for the mass audience imo. I'm still enjoying it but every scene in tonight's episode was exactly what you knew was going to happen, up until the very last second until the credits. Don't really mind the time traveling plot holes as it moves the show along but the whole idea of going north of the wall to capture a wight for Cersei is absolutely rubbish.

Well we had olympic running and olympic javelin, wish the books would hurry up, can't be doing with all this time traveling,
