We have one of the most negative fan bases in football

We're nothing like every football club. We're spoiled. We were shit, then our new owners decided to make us the financially powerful and stable club in the world. They packed the team with superstars. They essentially gave us what the supporters of every other club in the country including Spurs/Arsenal/United/Liverpool would want. The opportunity to be as big and as successful as we possibly can be with no limitations.

We are nothing like every football club, quite the opposite we are totally unique proposition. Sadly it's totally lost on the people I refer to who feel entitled to success after having had it for five minutes. In my opinion anyway.

Great post

Its a good idea staying away from the match thread i have noticed in my time on bluemoon especially if things arent going so well. One is already feelin bad about the match situation and with all abuse, moaning and harsh criticism it just makes it more worse.

I make sure I get to every game after viewing the match day thread during a defeat against Southampton years back. Before then I missed the odd game. I realise that international Blues don't have this choice so they just have to avoid the match day thread.

Football is only happy when you are winning comfortably, have won or have won a trophy. The rest of the time it is a nerve shredding, angst ridden ninety minutes of torture and rollercoaster of emotions, where normal behaviour and sanity go out of the window.

In a weird way i was just as happy at Maine Road when our aim was 40 points and a cup run , our gallows humour was prevalent in getting us through some tough times , now with our success and the new stadium it is just as much frustrating when we under perform , and it is difficult to adjust to being the most hated football club when we were once everyones "second best team" and "poor little City". Yes we have won the lottery in football terms , and if you look at our facilities and playing squad/manager etc.,it is truly amazing , maybe i really do not appreciate how lucky we have been, Sheik Mansour could have bought another football club , thank goodness he chose us

I go with the same mates and family as I have since the late 80's and have to say this idea we have suddenly become spoilt is perposterous
Teams like Asenal and Scouser are spoilt ffs the tarquins when losing first half against leicester looked like they had just been relegated.

People whinging on a forum isn't a sign of being spoilt, it's what all football fans do as football is a fickle sport.

We have always been very critical as well as supportive of our team and club whether we were shite or not.
Rubbish must be the most used word in both Maine Rd and Eastlands.
Yes expectations are higher now, but we were never fans to downplay what we expected from our players and manager even when we knew they were bobbins we expected us to do better than we did and then whinge when we didn't.

Moaning was always part of our club as well as not taking ourselves too serious, and for me the only change, as with most social media is forums, twitter, fb etc. give more of a voice to those that complain loudest.

Koeman has recently said that the way we want to play football is the toughest way and it clearly is. A section of our fans expect the instant success that money brings but no footballer playing in the premier league has experienced playing the style of football that Pep wishes to play before. It all takes time and yet, two games into the season, the forum was packed with moaning about who we should buy and that Pep needed to get his arse in gear.

I couldn't give a toss if we don't look a million dollars this early. Let's watch the process and trust the manager and the club leadership. They've given me success that I had never experienced in my 48 years as a City fan.

For those who also say repeatedly that, "He only did it in uncompetitive leagues," get a grip . Most of the football played in this country is shite and his teams, in Europe, absolutely destroyed the best that the Premier League had to offer.

We also have our share of know-alls who believe themselves superior to everyone else. How many times do you see words like "sheep" used to disparage fellow Blues?

In truth, we've probably got a reasonably representative X-section of the wider population.

Remember how we started last year, and how that ended? We have replaced half of our squad chiefs with new players. It was always going to take a while to get things going in the right way.

We've potentially got the best chance of dominating English football with pep as our manager. I want the title this season as much as anyone, but it annoys me seeing some of the comments on here like pep isn't working out, this early on in the season. We're bloody good when we get going, we've also been robbed in the past two games. The match thread yesterday was easily the worst I've seen. I didn't see a pep out comment, but I'm expecting one soon enough.

Two things I'd add to the debate.

One: At the general level, football has changed mucho from when we were shit. Quite a lot is for the better. However, the game has sold part of its soul for silly money and naked commercialism. In such an environment, is it surprising if people are more "picky", more cynical of pumped-up idols and, in turn, less likely to give uncritical allegiance?

Two: Everything is relative. We're not on Stockport County resources, FFS. City have thrown sufficient money around to be judged against the most demanding standards. If and when we look to fall significantly short (and let's be honest, it has been known) why shouldn't people give voice?

We've practically reached the stage where no "elite" manager can be judged until he's purged the expensive squad he inherited and brought in his own favourites at vast additional expense. Those who manage on a shoestring are scorned as no-marks. Excuse me if some us with ordinary jobs and home lives don't feel particularly comfortable with those "values".

In summary, City operate in a rarefied and unreal world. They've brought us some fabulous players but don't own us. Many of us will continue to enjoy the good bits without seeing any need to doff caps at absolutely anything and everything that is set before us.

The problem is that "things aren't going so well" is defined in the Match Day thread as "We haven't scored two in the first ten minutes." One might think I'm exaggerating, but I'm not. If the opposition completes a pass in our final third, it's calamitous. If one of our players doesn't weave through four defenders with perfect ball control and then leave the keeper flat on his back as he thunders a shot in from twenty yards, it's calamitous.

The problem isn't being critical. It's both the lack of proportion and the nonsensical nature of most complaints, which are then followed by the complainer doubling-down and insisting their rudimentary solutions would cure everything from a football match to world hunger.

Spot on.

No we don't. All clubs have the same.

It is Karen and it the same people, week in week out, on the post match thread trying to make themselves look like the biggest blues on here......"I'm a bigger blue than you because I never panic during games". Plus they come out with all that "rag" garbage as well...

It's a match thread, emotions run high and people over react in real time....it happens every game if things are in the balance so why do they keep expressing such surprise and faux outrage when they must know damn well in advance there will be a load of rubbish going on?

I agree that if you don't like match threads then don't read them, the wums on there get called out as they are really obvious, blues reacting sec by sec to what they are seeing is up and down the same as it is at the pub or in the crowd, getting patronised in the threads post game, incidentily by the same posters, just makes for arguements, after the game when everyone is relieved probably half feel stupid about it but thats the emotion of the game for you
