As it stands we're far weaker in attacking positions than we were when last season concluded. Which ever way you break that down, it's not a great endorsement for our overall transfer window when Guardiola states it was our inability to take chances that cost us last season.

The likelihood is that next summer we'll be trying to buy a similar amount of first team players as this, with the need for an even bigger outlay given the inflation in fees, particularly as the bar is now set with the obligatory PSG purchase of Mbappe @ circa €160m. I think we'll need 2xCB, LB, 2xCM and at least 1xforward, most likely two given this seems like Aguero's last year.

Having a DoF, with a clear philosophy of how we want to play/ recruit, is supposed to reduce the need for such wholesale changes to the squad. It looks like another big summer awaits, unless some of our loan army turn into viable first team players rather than another form of income stream.

You missed my point.. do you think Wenger gives one shit about the £60m?? His ego intact and therefore this is a win win for him personally.. he tells the faithful that he tried to buy Lemar and he also convinced Sanchez to stay...
They won't believe it for one second, and when results fail to improve then the shit will hit the fan, fuck all to do with egos, throw in players going for fuck all end of season and no champions league it's only going one way for them and wenger down..

Tut tut.

Your not allowed to say that!

We need this Sanchez deal to be done. I think some people need to realise how good he is and how damaging the deal would be for the rest of the league if we were to get him. Can't help but think we are making the same mistakes we usually make by not paying the price for someone. We paid 42m for fucking Mangala. Offer them 80m. RVP pt. 2 - massive massive deal.

I hope the optimistic few are correct and the brief to Mullock is poker playing hence the comment that we'll go back in the summer.

There's no chance we will in my opinion as we won't pay the ridiculous wages that he'll demand on a Bosman.

I'm thinking along the same lines. This was his one and only chance to sign. In 12 months we'll be looking for someone younger

He's not our player, Arsenal have every right to hold him to his contract, as much as a lot of us won't like to hear that.

Fair play to them, if it is dead in the water, I'd love it if City had done this to one of the better clubs when we were shite, too.

Fair play? This is quite possibly the worst business decision ever made from a top club. If City had done this and allowed our most valuable player to walk away on a free there would be riots.
