...............Ederson

Walker....Otamendi...Mangala....Delph

.............Gundogan

....KDB...................Dave Silva

...Sterling....Gabby....Sane

Let's get at West Ham early doors, really batter their already rock bottom confidence and knock up a cricket score

I think this is the team except Sane will be rested alongside Dinho and Kompany because he's one yellow away from being suspended for the United game

Ederson
WalkerKompany Otamendi Mangala Danilo
Gundagon
DeBruyne Silva
Sterling Jesus

Then why do you assume it's bollocks if you don't know what it is or how it's used?

It's not that expected goals is bollocks, I'm sure it is a very handy tool for strategists at City, it's just that unlike possession, pass accuracy, goals scored, successful tackles which you can see with the naked eye, expected goals exists on a different plane, it doesn't speak to fans who experience the game. It's a bit like the calorie count in a meat pie, it's there and it's important but it's not the same as the taste.

I feel some of our players need a good rest.

We experience expected goals, we walk away from a match like the Everton game "How the fuck did we draw that game? We destroyed them" = much higher expected goals scored than actual goals scored. Or a game like Dortmund in 11/12 at home where they battered us and we stole a draw thanks to Hart = much higher expected goals conceded than actual goals conceded.
We subconsciously use this to reflect on the game, quantifying it just allows for cross comparison between games without having to rely on the memories of supporters who were there and had bias for most of them.

The phrase "smash and grab" is when someone beats the expected goals stat.

When you state....

Of course we experience it just like the calorie count in that meat pie might mean an extra notch on your belt, but we don't experience it in a self evident way, otherwise we wouldn't....

Good analogy. At the end of the day the stat is there for those that are interested. For those that aren't it's easy to ignore.

It isn't there solely for the benefit of those that ate the pie though :)

Another must win game, there is still along way to go to the end of the season. The more games we can win the better for us. It maybe time to give Vinny a rest. To play Vinny in 3 games in a week just might be to much for him. Play Mangala along side Otto. that should be fine. WHU need to start winning games, otherwise they will be drawn into a relegation battle, which will heap even more pressure on the team.

They are in 18th with 10/42 points and have David Moyes in charge, they are already in a relegation battle.

Don’t want us to destroy WHU, a comfortable win with no injuries and a clean sheet will do, they have been on the receiving end lately. They’re definitely up against it and they will probably resort to a 5-5-0 formation, it will be attack v defence yet again with the odd ball lumped forward. Maybe a chance for Diaz/Foden to showcase their close skill.
3-0 City.

So we did a smash and grab on Southampton then?

its a danger game for me west ham in a lot of shit nothing to lose coming to the etihad and if they get the right ref anything could happen
the media will be right over it being on skysports and the derby coming up so players must be on there best behaviour and not let the ref get to us if things go tits up

moyes knows how to wind up the better clubs and the dirty tricks from the touch line and if he gets a ref that lets them kick up off the park then its game on if we just settle and play our game its a win and goals will flow but in the last 3 or 4 games we have let teams boss it in the air and free kicks and corners are right up west ham street so we have to kill them off early and get the job done

Show no mercy, applaud our ex players, but we must not take our foot off the throat of any opponent, lest they bite back.
The days of going a season unbeaten are over in my opinion, so we must take any opportunity we can to rack up as many goals as possible, get a game put to rest, and our main stars subbed off in the 2nd half.

An Early goal would be great, but with the belief/will to win this side possesses as has been seen with the late winners, nothing to worry about if we don't score early.

Definitely rest Dhinho and Vinny.

Vinny slightly worries me at the moment and could possibly struggle against Rashford/Lumpopu's pace.

Tin helmet on, but maybe Mangala with his pace might be an option against Stretford.

No reason we don't torch them if the 47 year old granny-shagger can put 3 past them. I don't think Kompany should be playing 3 straight games in quick succession especially right before the derby.

- - - - - - Gabriel Jesus
Sane - - - - - - - - - - - - Sterling
- - - D. Silva - - - De Bruyne
- - - - - -Fernandinho
Delph - - - - - - - - - - - - Danilo
- - - - Mangala - Otamendi
- - - - - - - Ederson

I'd be wary of Andy Carroll seeing how vulnerable we were in the air against Soton. City grind it then pull away 3-1.
