Love the 750m fans response completely destroys the argument without any insult whatsoever. Just smashes it apart.

Ha. This one is always a favourite of mine. United made £581m revenue last year, which either means you only made 77p per fan (suggesting you are run by absolute amateurs, which we know isn’t true), or its a lie. There’s zero evidence for this fact.

It’s nearly 11% of the entire world population. Factor in that less than half the population probably even like football (let’s say only 60% don’t, which is being generous to football, because you’d get those kind of numbers in the UK and it’s our No1 sport by a long distance), 10% are then too young to understand it, and another half of that don’t have the means to watch football, in under developed countries. In other words around 20% of the world probably support a football team, being generous, and you think United capture 55% of that market. Real Madrid might argue differently.

Fair enough. I suppose if you hadn't been a member for too long and people hadn't gotten to know you then you're afforded less leeway. After all, I copped a 2 day ban on there just after joining years ago for something that I didn't think was overly bad

I once got 6 months!

Nope.
Some Utd fans will try to tell you he bossed the Arsenal game because for a 20 second respite from Arsenal's complete domination and wasteful finishing (and some good De Gea saves) he ran past a finished/out of form Koscielny

They're lucky he was out for the derby because we'd have had even more space to take the piss out of them

Hope he is fit for the return derby at the Etihad...then we can put that theory to bed once and for all

That is a fantastic response

To be fair though, they ban a lot of United fans too so the modding is pretty consistent across the board. I don't always agree with the bannings, be it City or United fans, but it's not my forum and I'm not the one modding it. And if a United fan came on here having a pop at everyone and slagging City off all the time, they wouldn't last very long either.

I've noticed they've hidden that Griezmann thread away in their current affairs section(or whatever it's called), you know with being linked and all that. While keeping that Abu Dhabi thread in the football section for all the armchairs to faux outrage over. Half of those wallowing ****s couldn't point the Middle East out on a map, let alone Abu Dhabi.

I'm sure there are a few on a wind-up over there, I also used to think padr81 was a red pretending to be a Blue, turns out he is a Blue, but he just sucks up to that lot all the time, he's utterly embarrassing.

Nah I genuinely think he's a red pretending to a blue. I can't name one city fan that sucks up to United fans.

Didn't the definition of United fans include everyone who has ever watched or read about them? And thus every single opposition football fan in the world?

It was anyone who recognised their badge from a sample size of 10k in the far East, a football crazy region. So in one of the most football crazy overseas markets, 10% or so of people recognised their badge. How many would have recognised the New York Yankees badge?

I recognise the stars and stripes. Fuck me, I'm an American! We all are!

Yep, that's pretty much the criteria they used and it's probably accurate for what sponsors want (exposure and brand recognition) but it's not an accurate count of supporters.

I don't know why the Griezmann thread got moved but I doubt that's why they did it - it escalated rapidly while it was in the football section and is still getting a lot of attention. It's probably more to do with it being wider than a football issue. Then again, one can argue the same about the Abu Dhabi thread. All things considered, we're probably talking little more than half a dozen or so United fans acting all outraged on the AD thread. More than that, to be fair, have posted balanced views and in the grand scheme of things only a fraction of the membership of the whole forum has posted on it.

You're right. United floated that absurd number when they were in the process of fleecing their fans during the "floatation for fools". The FT at the time said the true figure was likely to be half that touted by the rags, but even the FT's figure was greater than the population of the USA and the scum used such a loose definition for what constituted a fan, everyone in here was probably counted.

If I'm not mistaken, didn't City do something similar in the summer and announce that we've got something like 400 million fans worldwide? I'm sure I read it in an article somewhere and found it rather amusing considering I've been laughing at that 659 million figure for United for a fair few years!

Edit: It's in here - http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/...er-city-court-asian-fans-20160915-grh5fq.html

Yeah, but when we do it it's alright ;-)
