Burnley (A) Post Match Thread

Frustrating to drop points in a game we should have won comfortably with the chances we had, but a point is hardly the end of the world in our position.

The players looked knackered towards the end, and deserve a few days off. They’ve put in some shift in recent weeks given the injuries we’ve got. Hopefully get one or two players back for the Leicester game.

I think Pep made few mistakes :

1- Starting Sterling on the Left
2- Bernardo is not effective as winger & he should replace Silva
3- He shouldn't replace Sterling after that HUGE miss, it was better giving him more time to recover instead.

And in regards to players mistakes:

1-Sergio was too selfish not to pass to Sterling in numerous occasions, Gundogan as well
2-The goal we conceded was Walker's fault, he should be aware of the player close to him

Anyway, 13 points difference is not bad :), and hopefully we will do better next game.
So you are starting who on the left wing? Brahim?

Not read the thread can imagine what the same Mard arses have said, all I want to say is what a save by Eddie at 1_0 we have a top keeper as for sterling he's been magnificent all season I hope he's not to hard on himself
Very wise words blue
Totally agree

We are going to miss Sané badly over the next few weeks. Hopefully Silva is back for Leicester.

If we're playing Bernardo and Sterling up front then Bernardo should be on the left and Sterling on the right to correspond with their strongest foot.Too often the full backs turn them inside.
As for Kun we know his weak foot is his left but he had two presentable opportunities which he should have done better with. One in the first half when he cut in from the left at a narrow angle and in the second half when his shot hit the defender's back. With his right foot he buries that last chance, also a higher and harder shot to the left or right of the defender probably hits one of his arms both of which were outstretched.
We were due a result like this because we have dominated other games but left it late to put the game to bed and remained vulnerable.
The Sterling miss was that moment to finish it off, but this time it didn't happen.
There were some Burnley fans around me watching the game in the pub and after the miss one of them said we can get something from this. That mentality was there on the pitch where Burnley knew they should have been dead and buried got a lift and our boys were on a downer as well as being knackered.
We will be ok with D Silva back but please Pep switch the wide men.

Would have brought Laporte on with 10 minutes to go. 5 at the back.

Not Pep's style, but sometimes when it's 0-1, shutting up shop is the best option.

I'd have taken 0-1 at the end.

Spot on. Everybody could see the goal coming we were getting dominated from about 10 minutes before they scored. Then add to that Aguero couldn't get in the game at the other end due to this so he hould have came off for Laporte or at least another central midfielder & we would have more than likely seen the game out at 0-1 which would have been fantastic.

Kun is running on empty at the moment...... it should be clear to people why he was being rotated earlier in the season from seeing this performance alone..

We are already missing Sane's injection of pace, that coupled with Jesus's movement up top and we look lethargic... Thread bare but still turning out results, however we need a pick me up before Basel!!!!

Missed chances and tiredness had a major effect.
Said to the guy next to me at the 70 min mark.Vinnie has done nothing wrong all game.
That will teach me.
Walker also was poor last 20.
Not the end of the world.A good weeks rest and hopefully back to our best next week.

We played a good match but it slipped off our grasp - this rival is always tougher at home. We are still topping the table and confident of our skills. C'mon City!

Sterling is never gonna be a consistent finisher I think that’s something we must accept. For a footballer to miss the amount of open nets and clear cut chances he does is astonishing.

Your Liverpool mates in Bradford giving you shit ?

Thought Gundogan played very well today, and is benefitting from having a bit more game time. And how good is Ederson?!

Burnley can fuck off

One of the most undeserved point a team has gotten all season that lot.

Really? We missed a sitter to go two up, fair enough but I thought they applied themselves quite well to be honest.

With a quite obvious lack of any real quality they forced Ederson into making 2 outstanding saves and managed to get an equaliser.

Our 2nd half display wasn’t too good in my opinion and although I’m disappointed we didn’t win, I wouldn’t go as far to say that the point that Burnley got wasn’t earned.

One of those days, should have wrappred it up with the Stering chance but no harsh criticism is warranted. Vinny looked a bit shaky second half but he's a squad player these days .

Dyche said afterwards that had we got that second goal it would have been over. He knew they had a chance and that's really all that went wrong today. We just could not get that second and it was always going to fire up the home side the longer we didn't.

100% today we paid the price for injuries, too many games lately and mental exhaustion.

This free week is coming just when we need it as Leicester are going to be spiced up after the Mahrez debacle. And they have a shot of Europe too. So we cannot take that game lightly.

But, whilst mathematically it obviously isnt a must win it absolutely is given what follows it.

The media will be screaming bottle job with Arsenal and Chelsea back to back unless we win.

We must not give them that pleasure.

We need to kill the hope stone dead and I suspect we will.
