Continues to make a mockery of the awards "system"

Deserved a goal today, unlucky not to get it.

What are we calling three assists by one player in a match these days?

I vote for a ‘quivertrick’...

I can’t proclaim to know a great deal about football but Sterling’s movement off the ball must be amongst the best in the world.

If he had been a tad more composed and ruthless in front of goal, he would have eclipsed even Salah this season for goals scored. The number of times he finds himself in threatening positions is incredible.

Even though I think Sane is the more exciting prospect of the two, I cannot fathom how he won the young POTY award ahead of Sterling.

Would love to have seen him chip the keeper in that one on one but can't argue with three assists. MOTM performance.

He needs to learn some more finishes, which is completely possible. Chipping the keeper would be a good one, also the Henry style around the keeper into the far post. At the moment he can't do those very well and IMO as a result he needs to shoot before the keeper gets too close, which I think is why he always appears rushed in 1v1's.

Next season is going to be so interesting for him. Last season was all about rebuilding his confidence post Euro 2016. This season was a case of just doing what he's good at more - get into the box more often, take on your man more often, drive at the defence.

Next season he needs to start improving his weak areas to really take that step up to being one of the very best in the world. His left foot and his 1v1 finishing are really the only things in his way.

His movement is possibly the best in world football.

Thought he was superb today.

He's had a phenomenal season and I expect him to continue to improve under Pep. Imagine if he's even better next season, he's becoming some player.

Watching that video above, didn't realise just quite how much better his final ball and passing has got. He has picked up some central positions really well this season and is playing passes that KDB and Silva would be proud of. Real shame the world cup is this summer, another couple months with Pep would be much better.

Instead he will be off to Russia to be blamed for our inability to get out of the group and has the dinosaur Southgate trying to coach him.
I’ll quote myself.

What a way to prove my point today. 3 assists, fantastic performance and superb movement to get in finishing positions. Movement and picking up positions is incredibly hard and difficult to learn, you can get better at finishing just as Ronaldo, Messi, Aguero and so forth have as they get older.

The inevitable fluffed one on one notwithstanding, I thought that was arguably his best performance in a City shirt today. Man of the Match by a comfortable margin. Only Jesus and Fernandinho came remotely close to him.
Yep,he impressed me today,it was a more mature/composed performance than i have witnessed previously. The none penalty was a disgrace.

He's certainly a marked man as far as the officials are concerned, and unfortunately only time, while cutting out any theatrics, may change that.

I thought Delph was another who came close to MOTM.

It's an easy " get out of jail card " for the bent cnuts to pretend that Sterling " dived " , although he wasn't booked which is somewhat strange .

Not to a PGMOL official , obviously.

Nothing he can do, he's fucked no matter what he does. If he's fouled and stays up, he gets nothing, if he's fouled and goes down he usually gets nothing. Even when he does get the decision the ****s in the media try and pretend he's "made the most of it", or whatever other phrase they chose to use to plant the seed in peoples mind that he's a diver. Really wish we could stop getting Ratboy as commentator on our games btw, constantly trying to attach a negative to everything.

Fantastic today, yet again teams just cannot handle his off the ball movement and his composure when picking out a final ball was outstanding

His movement is especially noticeable watching from a higher position at the Etihad (EL3 in my case) - so many times he makes intelligent runs off the shoulder of his marker but doesn't get the pass.

An earlier poster finds Sterling frustrating, well it's Sane who frustrates me and the relative performance of the two today showed why. Sane definitely has greater natural talent and a higher future ceiling but at times today he looked like he couldn't be arsed whereas Sterling was everywhere, probing their defence both wide and through the middle, top class performance.
