Jorginho

De Laurentis said he wanted €60m weeks ago. So he will want €60m. How much he will accept in bonus payments is the issue.

The Napoli owner is like dealing with 2 Danial Levy's.

He has a figure than adds 10m & he wont budge.

This is in City's hands now how much we want him.

Give then £50m without bonus's no different.

I believe it's already done & his & Mahrez videos are taking place :)

Until this is done I dont see any reason why Thiago or Fred cant be a good option....Jorginho passing is off the charts, one of the best in Europe but we have alot of passers in this squad...so wouldnt be disappointed if we went for one of the other two. Fred was our No1 DM target in Jan and no matter what anyone says, the club take months to decide on a player before showing interest, so no way do they all of a sudden not think Fred would be a good fit....I see Fred as a more direct cover/replacement for Fern, which is what I think the squad needs more than anything else..Jorginho is a top level player, world class but for above reasons I wouldnt be disappointed if talks slowed down and we went back in for Fred....
We have had a few dud transfers but when it comes to top end midfielders City have been spot on.
Ferna, Yaya, Silva, Sane, Sterling, KDB, Barry, have all been much better than anyone expected. Even Milner and Nasri, for all the post city criticism, turned out to be good fits for the system.

Hence if Pep and Co thinkthus guy is our no 1 target, I would trust them. Plus, just the thought of our attackers running on to those delicious first touch passes and long balls from deep.. ....

I watched the France game last night purely to watch him. I'm sure he's better than what he showed last night. Mind you several classes above Pogba who managed to embarrass himself on a night when France thrilled their fans.

My bad .So if by 'push' you meant 'press', then my original point stands. No one other than Liverpool does it at a high enough level to bother us. TothenhmT is the 3rd best peesp team in the league, and we broke their press quite often and easily.

Put simply, we broke Spurs press with Gundogan at DM. Surely if Gundogan could handle the 2nd best press team, then what you are suggesting is that the best playmaking DM in Italy is likely softer than Gundogan at DM. I mean there simply is no legitimate basis for such paranoia. None!

So again I repeat, your worries are unfounded.

so you think that liverpool will be the only team to try to press/push us and be effective at it....i think other teams will try it more next season as it has shown sitting back against us is pretty pointless (literally) for most teams.....was it wigan that beat us in the FA cup by being more in our faces as well? We cannot afford to underestimate teams.....that 19 pt gap is now gone and its back to zero next season. Other team will improve and try different things against us and therefore making sure our central midfield/defensive midfield options are correct is essential

I thought he looked pretty good last night in the first half (couldnt watch the second as none of the streams i had were working) and he was easily Italy's best player - and he was being badly let down by others around him. His organisation was impressive and he was trying to dictate to others where they should be defensively which is again encouraging. However, we have seen midfielders come in and struggle in the prem league when doing well in others. Bakayoko at chelsea really struggled for one last season, fernando less recently for us was poor as well. Its critical that we get this right.

As another poster pointed out (correctly in my opinion) he is a great passer but do we need that....? We need someone who excellent defensively and there are some on here that have watched him more than me and aren't convinced. I don't know and havent seen him enough to say either way but I hope they are wrong as if he is a replacement for Dihno then he is going to be needing to be good at the defensive side. Short term we still have Dihno but longer term he is going to have to be phased out as he is now 33 (i think) - he wont last much longer at his peak.

Napoli saying theyve rejected our bid so can't see him signing as soon as the media seems to think. Not as close as we thought.

Can't honestly see him busting a gut last night and risking injury when potentially the deal of his life so far could be happening anytime soon

fwiw sometimes is very tricky to judge a player based in a game with their national teams, systems, players, environments, etc are all different. Some great players can look very average with their national teams even sometimes our own Kun. Our system is defend as a whole squad, retain possesion when we have the ball, etc
Jorginho i believe will give us different options like a good long pass to the wings. I am pretty sure once he gets training with the team and talking and learning from Pep we will see what Pep has in mind

I thought Xavi Alonso was a quality footballer. If the comparison with him someone mentioned in here other day is accurate then I’d be very happy to see him in a City shirt. Alonso liked a tackle though. Hopefully this lad does as well.

Think it'll be done at €50m up front with some add ons. Sounds like we are close. He publicly derided our Cavani bid so at least he's not being disrespectful here.
Personally I think it's disrespectful in itself to be airing the specific numbers and bids that City are putting up. Negotiations should remain behind closed doors, not openly discussed with the media. I can't imagine City would be too amused with him being so forthright.
