United thread 2018/19

Dead right. Even when we were down in the abyss, they were still obsessed with us. They thought that over the wilderness years our support would just dwindle into insignificance and couldn’t handle the fact that we remained strong, defiant and resilient in support of our team and maintained that characteristic grim and self-deprecating humour in the face of adversity. Many on here will remember those days when several thousand Blues queued up outside Maine Road from the early hours - some came straight to the ground from their Friday night clubbing - to get tickets for away matches like Macclesfield and Northampton. And the midweek lunchtime (I think it was) when tickets went on sale for the play-off semi against Wigan. (It seems to have stuck in the mind that only some 800 or so tickets were available for the Northampton game.)
I said it before, when we won the play off final and they won the Cl was it the week before( was it the treble) iforget. Anyhow when we came out of Wembley and the trip back up the motorway we sang all the fucking way. Then walked around Denton and partied that night like no other. We couldn't give a shit about them. That fuckin hurt them.

Yeah, mac, heady days when you look back on them. We made our way back from Wembley and stopped off first at Maine Road to take photos outside the ground. We were always a thorn in their side, even at our lowest ebb. I don’t think that most of the smug, glory-hunting, self-satisfied bastards ever ‘got’ the Blue ‘vibe’. Mind you, it’s so good now to be in the ascendency.

Don’t know if you remember but at the end of the game there was a resounding rendition of “you can stick you’re fucking treble up your arse”

Our coach overtook the team bus on the way home... and boy, were they partying.....

The mayhem after the Dickov goal... i looked back and saw my dad 4 rows back.... Not sure who'd moved....

Imagine them dropping 2 divisions, let alone a few league places....

What hurt them? Finding it very hard to understand this post as it is filled with delusion and nonsense. I remember walking up Wembley Way before the game hearing you can stick your fucking treble up your arse (sideways) We are all as obsessed as each other, anyone to claim different is a fucking moron.

All hail tom the oracle of bluemoon. Like I said Denton that night was blue, like most night s actually. Any reds that were about didn't indulge in any banter. I couldn't give a fuck what they won back then as long as our lads went out and gave it all. 95% of teams don't win anything ask your friends of Rochdale or Bury etc. We were on par with the likes of them and you know what they don't give a shit about them either as they would walk though walls for their teams.

You spend a lot of your time insulting your fellow fans on this forum. I don't believe for one minute that you were at the Gillingham match.

Not at all, not saying Denton wasn't blue that night. Considering it was a Sunday though I doubt it is a bouncing night filled with reds to begin with. Not even saying you cared what they won but on the same note they wouldn't have give a toss about us beating Gillingham and to claim that victory "hurt" them is odd. We was irrelevant to them just as you claim they are to you.

You think I give a toss what you think? Anyone to claim we aren't as obsessed with United as they are us are just stupid. To even claim our Gillingham win hurt them days after winning the treble is delusional. Supporting the same team as me doesn't mean they cant talk shite, just like many claim I do. Still have my scarf from that day if you want it mate.

Working in Salford at the time, there were plenty of rags hoping and praying we got beat. I had Conference In Two Years on my locker

I think they were a bit gutted that it stopped being all about them so soon. Certainly in Manchester anyway. Yeah the achievements at the time were incomparable but the nature of the win v Gillingham and the joy it gave all blues was amazing. Perhaps it could be compared to how we may have felt had Liverpool not failed so spectacularly in the CL final this year.

It did hurt them believe me the amount of scum fans that tried to abuse me with "you bought the ref" and "where the fuck did 6mins injury time come from" they even claimed there was photos of the ref (Mark Halsey?) drinking with blues before the game.they had just won a trebble and it hurt them them that much they had to want to spoil our celebrations
