Strikers take penalties. It's, mainly, the done thing. I'm at a loss as to why Jesus didn't take it. Really puzzled!!!
From the vt playback Jesus thought he was going to take it.
What message does it send out when your striker is not the default penalty taker....it's kind of their job!!!

Because there is video footage of Mendy running in from the direction of the bench gesturing toward Mahrez to take.

So if it wasn't Pep or someone on the bench then Mendy took it on himself to have a very strong opinion.

Pep didn't know about his record. He was interviewed and admitted it. So it was a slight oversight but it doesn't matter that much as we are now in the driving seat

That was a mature performance. John, Laporte and Walker excellent. Mendy Ok for his first game back. Fern is a smiling assassin. Penalty was a bit of a shambles on a number of levels however we played well and should have taken three points. Feeling confident that we will be on top at end of season.

Yaya behaved like twunt. We all know this. However, he was the best pound for pound penalty taker, this club has seen. Did he miss many?
Again, it drives home the fact of giving the job to the best man. Mahrez's record in penalties proves he is not that man.
I remain positive about Mahrez. Just not his "ability"from 12 yards.
