Regularly playing Russian Roulette by having Zinchenko at fullback, in the Chamions League.

He's poor in that position, on the ball, off the ball, positionally, & has no pace.
Said in the pre match if we weren't risking Delph I'd rather go 3 at the back than play Zinchenko as he'd get exposed and it happened over and over. Doesn't even offer enough going forward against better opposition because of his lack of pace.

Most disappointing today was that he was slow and poor in possession.

I don't care about him defending at LB, it's not great but whatever he's a last resort. However, he's a midfielder and today he was incredibly slow to play the ball forwards, took too many touches and hesitated so often. He didn't help out Fernandinho defensively either.

When he moved centrally, he was exactly like Dier or Henderson, on the ball, but he can't defend or win headers.

He isn't doing the stuff on the ball, he used to be able to do.

It's time the experiment was ended.

Agree he has no pace. He is no worse than Delph or Mendy positionally. He uses the ball ok. I agree insomuch as I don’t think he is the quality allround that we need at left back. Think you are being a bit harsh though. Not sure what was up with him but was not a happy bunny after the game.

I like him and his attitude. Strangely I dont shit Mysef when a player comes at him as much as mendy. But fuck me at least mendy repeatedly tries to go forward or at least pass it forward . Do you think he’s under instruction from pep or he’s just not confident enough?

I don't know how it's possible to be harsh tbh.

If he'd been playing for most City teams of the past, rather than this incredible team, he would imo have been one of the worst left backs we have ever seen in a City shirt.

Luckily for him, we are fucking amazing.

Under instruction !

He's not under instruction not to pass forward.

He doesn't react fast enough.

And if he does run forward, as soon as he gets over the halfway line, he has no chance of getting back.

He was an attacking player, who is a fish out of water in that position & it's ruining his attacking ability.

Definitely not a good day at the office for the lad, but it was just one game and I'm so boringly repeating on here about so many players, he is young.

There have been plenty of games where he's been much better, and if he's going to continue to be played there he's unfortunately going to need nights like tonight to improve.

Certainly being played out of position, great player, no alternative really apart from the yorkie who either passes sideward or backward !

He is what he is; a utility player. One the club have openly tried to flog the last three windows.

He only really plays when the injury bug ravages the team.

Of the same ilk as a Cleverly in Ferguson's teams. Plays a part but when they leave, will forever play a level below.

Dire, he is only good enough for League Cup matches and cannon fodder in PL. Get proper LB in January if possible.

Didn't play well today. 1 of many. Including Dave, Dihno, Walker, Mahrez, Sane, and Sterling. I'm sure none of the others not playing well proved they were not good enough...

We just had a bad day. Against a team that has played us well 2ice.

And lots of players played poorly. Including Zee I suppose? But I'm gonna have to watch it later tonight without the buffering. Can't trust the opinions of a fee on here. :)

I normally stick up for him but he was awful tonight (and before anyone says it he wasn't the only one).

But what I don't understand is why, when we're missing 3 attacking midfielders, didn't we play him in his natural position? We could have put Delph at left-back or even Danilo, and had Zinchenko in midfield alongside Silva. By playing him in that weird half-and-half position, like he did with Gundogan at Anfield last season, Pep caused us unnecessary problems and probably destroyed the lad's confidence.

I'm a fan, but he wasn't great, and I'd have replaced him at half time, I even thought he got worse in the second half, but the fact Pep left him on is a good sign for the lad I guess, especially when Delph came on, as I thought he'd push him further forward, and put Delph at LB, but what do I know.

I thought he played very well considering part of the Lyon plan was to have 2 on 1 running against him. He looked exhausted by 60 mins though.

Technically very tidy and for me played far better than Walker on the other side.
