Ben Chilwell

I always pick English players if it is even close but Mendy from Lyon and Ghoulam from Napoli both have been more impressive against us Dortmund have a player on loan from Real that is starting to make waves and Grimaldo is still available, and all these would be cheaper

Happy with any of them tbh, I just want a specialist left back

Know what your saying but Mendy injured or not is our first choice when our targets look at us, which does limit the market to potential or experienced, at that point does cost outweigh what we have especially long term?
Henry has just come back from injury and has been ordinary so far, Kelly is making waves but needs to up his new standards and Chilwell is good but too hyped, I think i would be tempted with Grimaldo now and see how these English kids and Mendy go from now to the end of the season and if we need English go Oxford and Bissaka

Why would Chilwell come here?

He isn't better than a fully fit rampaging Mendy so there's a high probability it'll stall his career.
It's hard to tell how good a player is that plays in a different team and he may back himself to be better than Mendy, especially since Mendy spends most of his time injured.

A fully fit and rampaging Mendy? I too have seen the Loch Ness Monster.

It's the only position where there currently isn't fierce competition for a starting place

He would get more than enough games, even if Mendy was fully fit all the time, to justify coming here He would get more exposure which would help his international chances.

Then there is the chance of winning trophies, working with the best coach in the world and playing for one of the biggest clubs in world football.

Or, he could stay at Leicester and realise that the season is over already in January, again

Indeed Leicester cup defeat may work in our favour, I also thought Zinchenko was again exposed yesterday

Agree re Zinchenko - poor lad isn’t a left back and he’s looking very exposed. Looks good further up the pitch. Not seen enough of Chilwell to comment but Leicester will want stupid money - which will be based on potential more than anything else. Transfer market is nuts but you’ll still get better value abroad. Final general point - might be worth doing or agreeing deals now - given post Brexit the pound could fall by circa 10 per cent which will increase the cost of deals with overseas clubs significantly.

Can’t say as he was particularly impressive today. Whole Leicester defence was all over the place. Looked bang average
I've looked at his performances closely since we were linked and I think as you say he's been very average at best for the last few games. Maybe he'd improve with our coaching, but he gives the ball away too much and his positioning leaves the centre backs exposed. Not for me, especially for the fees being banded about.

My thoughts were the same after watching him today, he gave the ball away a lot. Maybe just a bad day at the office because he has looked decent in other games.

He doesn’t fill me with confidence. There will certainly be better value in the market.

I think he’s good but Leicester will want 4 x what he’s worth if we move on him. Non starter I think.
