Time will tell. Interestingly the split of tory mps is most likely along the lines of 100 leavers 200 remainers and the balance on the fence. So a well co-ordinated block vote by the remainers could probably put 2 remainers on the ballot for the members. Who are more likely to join UKIP than vote for a leaver.

Trouble ahead for the tory party.

Trouble ahead full stop for domestic politics imo with the ERG lot splitting away possibly to a new Farage led anti EU party and on the other side, i can well see yet another go at either ousting Corbyn or they too will be tempted to split.

Chicken Coup 3 (or 4. I forget how many have failed so far..?) was declared this morning by Luciana Berger blaming JC for the second referendum amendments being withdrawn.

The split is less sever for Labour - Corbyn is surrounded by leavers but they are the extent of it. The grass roots, the unions, momentum, every labour man and his dog are remain or coming round to remain.

Corbyn will have to pivot at some point or you are quite right he would face another leadership challenge and given that it is momentum that put him there and momentum are now pro remain he would lose if he didn't shift his position.

When I worked with the Department for International Trade, I had the misfortune of being in the same room as this moron and forced to listen to his inane ramblings. As you know I have no love for Conservatives, but Fox is in a class of his own, he is profoundly stupid, even by Tory standards and while lying is his trade, he lies, more often than not, because he simply does not understand. It's hard to put your finger on it, but in casual conversation afterwards, when you stare at him, opening and closing his mouth, it dawns on you that he's not deliberately lying to mask his agenda, he's Terry Fuckwit, he genuinely doesn't have a clue.

Oh yeah, Momentum will oust Corbyn and put a remainer in like Chuka Umunna.

The PLP have got zero time for Corbyn, never have and never will and this is the last straw for many i think.

You could see the ERG and Farage forming up whilst the Blairites and the likes of Soubry go full on EU love in leaving a hardcore of the real left wing to protest about everything.

True but opposing brexit could unite them where as the spilt in the Tories over brexit is right down the middle and separates the core membership from the remain inclined MPs, donors and most importantly voters in many of the more affluent constituencies. As one senior Tory said the other day - When canvasing on the doorsteps, if there are books on the shelves these people will not be voting Tory in future.

I think our politics would be better served by that sort of split:

Tory/Ukip leavers
Centrist remainers
Left wing leavers
Others (mostly remain)

I would know who i would vote for without hesitation where as right now there is no alignment with what the majority think is the biggest issue (brexit) and what their voting options would be.

What i said was Corbyn will pivot to remain - for the reason above. The groups that hold the balance of power are all pro remain and they will be working away in the background. This is from some coverage pre conferance last year:

Momentum’s national co-ordinator, Laura Parker, said. “Last year, the context was very different. Now, it’s absolutely inevitable there will be a discussion on conference floor, I can’t conceive there won’t be – we’re 200 days away,” she said. “Without a doubt, there has to be a debate.”

More than 100 constituency Labour parties have submitted motions to the Labour conference calling for the party to back a referendum on any final Brexit deal, which campaigners believe is an unprecedented number.

The drive has been spearheaded by a number of leftwing groups, including Another Europe is Possible, Remain Labour, Labour for a People’s Vote and the student group For Future’s Sake (FFS).
