Peter Walton is an even bigger **** now than he was when he was a ref.
Compare and contrast tonight's VAR with the handball and non penalty in the FA Cup at Newport!Remember the ridiculous Micah Richards pen at Anfield off Ric O'shea , nothing changes for us
Now we are finally start to get somewhere with posts like this...At last. What we shout for in the heat of the moment, with blue tinted specs on, isn’t always the same as what refs should give.
I honestly don’t believe it was a penalty, although I can see how it was given. No better than 40/60 in my view. Probably less.
Under VAR rules, I honestly think it shouldn’t have gone to VAR. It wasn’t a clear and obvious error by any definition. That’s why it took so long.
And the screen was fcuked, thus undermining another pillar of VAR.
Now...your turn to be honest.
KDB looks like he's done a Wurzel Gummage style head change with the newly energised Zinchenko.Agreed KDB is no where near last season's level and we need him at his best when we come up against better teams later in the CL.
I think you are completely wrong. Two of the key decisions were nonsense and we still won. Which is a fantastic result and could not have been achieved if we were poor.
If there is any kind of similar incident either way in the ' Red Arsecheeks Derby' at the weekend, we will never hear the last of it.
If Ferguson was still around, Utd would get 20 extra points from v.a.r. next season.
So what about the other two going for the ball who were offside. And clearly you have never played rugby. He’s wrong by both the letter and interpretation of the offside law. No offence is committed until a player goes near the ball to interfere with play. He never got a chance as he was bloody rugby tackled.
Precisely its not complicated but these officials get it so badly wrong. Its not complicated is it ? Why is this so incomprehensible to people
I thought it was a penalty but it shouldn’t have been given (due to the screen not working for VAR).
For me, there was enough distance between the ball and the player and he takes a bit too long before realising and retracting his arm. I think he’ll feel hard done by though, although if I was the attacker or had it happened for us, I’d have been shouting for it.
Both weren't.One was, one wasn't ;-)
The handball is clear for me. The shots going in and Otamendi diverts the ball. The second penalty is a needless pull by Fernandinho.
We're fortunate that Schalke aren't very good.
Of course it's a great result, but it wasn't a great performance.
The thing is, in the CL, the referee should be the one making the final decision, he is advised to have another look, and there is (supposed to be) a screen on the touchline for him to go look at and make the decision, without that what he decided should stand, ie a corner.Under VAR rules, I honestly think it shouldn’t have gone to VAR. It wasn’t a clear and obvious error by any definition.
Do you think that the handball was deliberate? The handball is clear for me. The shots going in and Otamendi diverts the ball. The second penalty is a needless pull by Fernandinho.

Otamendi tried to pull his arm out of the way but with the speed of the ball didntt have enough time.
