Var debate 2019/20

Are Riley and his cronies still sticking to their bogus interpretation of the perfectly sensible handball rules then? Just like Laporte, the Newcastle player did not have control of the ball before it deflected to another player so that goal should have stood anyway . How the hell does someone as stupid as Mike Riley end up in a position of influence in a multi-million pound sport?

Mike riley admits VAR have made 4 mistakes. 1 being a penalty not awarded on david Silva vs Bournemouth. Another being the newcastle handball goal. Fair play for admitting the mistakes but how will it be rectified to stop it happening in future? Obviously the men currently doing the job arent qualified enough

From 227 checks, 6 were overturned, and the other 4 'errors' should have been seen.

Haller being brought down for WHU was the other one - this was blindingly obvious as a foul.

Because the people who appointed him told him exactly what they wanted him to do.

Ridiculous isn’t it?

Judging from that 2005 United v Arsenal game, is answer that question by saying; Riley looks easy to bribe so was probably put in that position with lots of backing from Far East betting syndicates.

Riley is hiding behind the number of decisions that VAR has sorted this season compared to what might have gone begging last. The fact that the table will not be as it should be at the end of this season is neither here nor there, it seems. We were denied a penalty v Bournemouth and the opportunity of basically a 'free' goal. I don't suppose it's dawned on Riley and his acolytes that titles, positions, prize money and livelihoods depend on those decisions.

So can Riley tell us why Tielemans is not subject to a retrospective ban? I don't think they have played since so there is a chain they can follow.

A VAR system when the refs are checking on the refs is a fucking joke - there’s no chance of refs looking after each other and ignoring the mistakes of the same group of refs who will be checking on their decisions in the future, no of course not, it’s 100% fucking pure
