It's looking close. Seems to be tipped in the balance of Johnson's favour though

If Johnson wins I wonder if he will want a GE?

Vote for the bloody deal and take it from there, businesses need to know whats going on and all this uncertainty is just creating a mess. Have a GE after campaign for what ever you wish, can even campaign to rejoin and if you are successful then no one can say a thing about democracy.

But right now surely having some terms and not having the troubles back is better than no deal.

Controversial opinion. Johnson is lying to them. Johnson is always lying to someone and my bet is that’s it the ERG mob. He needs their votes. But think about it. Why wait 14 months to trigger a no deal scenario? Tories may not even be in power in 14 months. Would make more sense to refuse to do a deal with the EU, get a three month extension forced on him, fight an election as the no deal champion, win it and then no deal in January.

Just a thought.

Dave’s obsessed with Johnson not wanting a deal. He has to keep plugging this view to keep convincing himself. He’s that obsessed with it that he probably wants No Deal to actually happen and all the chaos that may ensue just so he can come on here and say “I told you so”!

Of course he will and he'd walk it. You might have asked the question whether he'd want one if he loses.

The more I think about it, Labour are totally screwed if the deal goes through. Knowing that may make Labour MPs thinking about supporting the deal, rather torn.

It really is complete bollocks.

Think about it for 1 microsecond. Johnson pontificated for ages about whether to back Remain or Leave. So let's for the sake of argument accept for one moment the left-wing-driven propaganda that he is a self-serving liar who only ever does anything for personal gain, and that he only backed Leave because he thought it would get him his best shot at No. 10.

Well he's in No. 10, isn't he. So no need for further duplicity. And his actions have shown that he's actually not a hard liner at all. He's come up with a much softer Brexit than anyone anticipated.

Now you can continue to think it's some kind of master conspiracy to fool us all and he's hell bent on a hard Brexit. Or you can just accept the reality that he really isn't a hard liner at all.

Time will tell and events may change any plan.

BTW he is a proven liar of monumental proportions.

Also it is somewhat foolish to be so certain about things you clearly cannot be certain of.

Even if jezza finished today, he's successfuly recalibrated politics in this country so there is some semblance of a left wing instead of the cosy cabal of the center right where the likes of Blair or umuna could fit into any of the three main partys simply by changing the colour of their ties.

And for that alone, I consider him a success. He has brought the party back to its roots and now its up to us bring back the people.

Even if you take the brexit issue away we still need a GE. With all the expulsions, resignations and moving between parties this parliament now consists of a minority govt and looks nothing like the one elected at the last GE.

Wow... so it was Thatcher’s fault.. I’ve heard her blamed for some things but not sure I’ve heard that one before..

I realise it’s a conundrum hence the question so thanks for the explanation

Thatcher in my opinion was the end of the begining for this country. She destroyed the post WW2 Social consensus and introduced the nation to Hayekian neo-liberalism. I will always despise her despite the fact she was successful and a fairly decent PM when you consider what followed.

I do not despise her as much as the gang of four who broke away from Labour to start the SDP, they were responsible for Thatcher and everything that followed. She normalised the hard right and that in my mind is unforgiveable. What we may be seeing after Brexit is the conclusion of the Thatcher project and lord fucking help us. Her spawn make her look sane.

You've obviously got total amnesia about what life was like in the 1970's. Total amnesia.
