Post Match Thread - United (h)

PEP If we do things wrong we will improve. But we cannot deny their quality. We will try to learn for the future.

PEP The norm isn't winning all the leagues - sometimes you lose. The important thing is to not give up. In all the games we have played this season, we have played how I want us to play.

Sometimes saying nothing would be better.

cant wait till we play Leicester. This is like Peps first season where defenders who are not good enough are exposed. His system leaves us open and it needs top quality defenders to play it. We've lost Kompany and Laporte, two world class and we have Dinho (a 34 yr old midfielder) and a weak stones. Throw in Angelino, who is nice on the ball but a shit defender and we're fucked.

John, you're right, they did have a few missing but trust Fred of all people to put a shift in for this game. Maybe we just flattered them. We did have chances, like we did v LFC, just not clinical enough.

Can we get Mario back on a free?

Got to say today felt like a complete end of an era for this great team.
I'm trying not to be over critical after last seasons triumphs but the whole season has had an "dont worry about it" feel to it and even pre match it sounded from pep like it was a friendly.
So many players have regressed a bit its quite astonishing, sterling, KDB, Bernie to name 3.
Why is this happening?
Today flattered us and it could have been more.
The whole defensive set up is a joke and the goals we are leaking goals in abundance.
It seems as though the season is over and it's only December.
I'm totally gutted.

Shite.

Pep and the board need to make some hard decisions and start spending the kind of money other teams in the top 4 or 5 richest in the world do on players, or we'll get dragged back down to mediocrity as our legends age too much.

I’m dreading the thought of Vardy against our defence on the counter.

Where to fucking start. Pathetic attempt from every player except Otamendi and Fernandinho.

Stones is finished. Pathetic.

I thought we were known for tactical fouls? Could have done with some today to slow them down. I'm sure the better idea was let them run 30/40/50 yards to create chances?
If they weren't so crap we would have been 4-0 down inside 20mins. It was like we had 8 men on the pitch the amount of space they had.

Bernardo and Sterling I presumed played for the u18 this morning? Or perhaps Sterling had a few too many drinks last night to kick off the early birthday celebrations. I've never seen him look so slow.

Angelino unfortunately is not good enough. Looked completely lost out there.

For the love of all that is possible please stop throwing 200 crosses into the box when things aren't going our way. It's embarrassing.

Shameful from Pep watching that for 90mins and not changing it. Foden should have come on, what did we have to lose?

Seems very reminiscent of Pellegrini's final season in charge. I honestly think this could well be Pep's final season.

Season has stunk so far but I'm confident as in 16/17 to 17/18 Pep can turn it around drastically. He wouldn't want to leave here on a lower note.

I'm so gutted. Feel really disappointed. In a derby where the fans are so emotionally invested you want your team to turn up and give it a really good go. That's why I'm so pissed off, we just looked slow, predictable and half hearted. That first half performance was absolutely dire. We could have gone in 4-0 down. We hardly tested DeGea.
I hate losing to them with a passion, but the way we didn't even put up a decent fight of it at home is really galling.

Poor run of form. Starting to go back to his old days of running into a crowd of players, playing the numbers game and hoping he'll come out with the ball.
Get him back where he’s at his best.

Think everyone is being harsh on Kev, he has had no help in midfield, really feel he is overplaying David Silva and he is running out of legs. Need Foden to lighten the load with speed and running. Rest Kev now and then, his vision and passing is going to be important in champions league now, think we could try Bernadi in middle and foden with him to shake the midfield up a bit and give our senior players a mental break, ready for the cups, which are our only hope now. I agree with most in hear that to ignore the need for a forceful cb has been a massive mistake and not ferna’s Fault, in games like this we need a Bonnie yo rally us round.

KDB will be wondering if his ambition is better matched elsewhere, where winning trophies is more important than not paying the most for a player in their respective positions.

We under estimated the Rags today , i certainly did and i think quite a few of us did , the players are also guilty of complacency , we were lucky to be 0-2 down when we realised we were in game , don't think for one minute Pep under estimated the Rags and he needs to kick some arses this week and get the players pressing and competing from the first minute. A few days ago we battered a better team in Burnley because every player was "at it" todays performance was a million miles away from Tuesday night.
