Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Atalanta fans have been refunded their travel costs by the club as their game with Valencia is being played behind closed doors.

Instead of accepting it back, they are collectively donating it to the local hospital instead. Very nice gesture, can't say I'd have been so charitable but I am a selfish cünt.

Pep has just said in his Arsenal press conference "If Uefa say we have to play without spectators, we will. I would love to play with our fans. If it happens for a long time it makes no sense, but health is the most important thing. Getting it right in each country day by day."

Sounds to me like its UEFA's call
Nothing to do with uefa. It's a local authority matter and then government. UEFA only has jurisdiction over punishments to ban fans

The chances of it being played behind closed doors are declining judging by the stabilising virus figures.

Excellent work from them - I guess it might be different if you were in the middle of a coronavirus hotspot.

All Ligue 1 and 2 games behind closed doors for a month and all Algerian games for the rest of the season.

One thing playing football behind closed doors will prove...football really is nothing without fans.

I don't think it's stabilising at all. China and the Far East maybe, but not in Europe. Over 400 new cases in Spain today, and 52 over here which would surely be more if they actually tested more people rather than fobbing them off. I dread to think what Italy's latest update is going to be going off the last few days
