Summer Transfers

... Bernardo ........................ De Bruyne
... Foden ............................. Brandt...
....Doyle...............................Bernabe...
,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Rodri .............................
.....................Laimer ......................
.....................Fernandinho......................

This would be my preferred midfield for next season. Our links to Aouar are no secret but I'd much rather have Brandt. His vision and creativity really stands out and gives me KDB vibes at times, you just wonder how in hell he saw that. If KDB were to get injured or leave I can see Brandt stepping up. As for Laimer, he is someone who goes under the radar, very similar playing to Fernandinho. Wouldn't go for too much and can offer nice rotation to Rodri. I can't see him demanding the same minutes as someone like Partey would
Can not knock the two you would bring in Brant is massively underrated and i am surprised that bayern have not gone in for him Laimer is quietly efficient, but Gundogan is still not going anywhere. PS Doyle is too far forward

Yeah I know Gundogan is going nowhere but a man can dream. I'm having a bit of trouble placing Doyle in our midfield. He played as the 6 against Southampton in the Carabao cup but Pep implied he's better and more comfortable higher up the pitch. I can't say that I've watched a ton of City youth football but Doyle strikes me as a good box to box player that's comfortable dribbling from deep, a bit like De Jong or Gundogan at Dortmund. Maybe his future is as a 6, you probably know better about that than me

To be fair if the club really believed in Garcia, Doyle and Taylor Harwood-Bellis they would be out on loan next year to speed up their progress, so at this point we have not seen their true ability, this season i do believe the media got to Pep a bit so he tried to get them involved too early

Yeah they could definitely have used a season away on loan

Still could, but since your on ,your Isak shout was a great one, we do need a striker as Aguero is all but finished but we do not need another Aguero play alike as Jesus would walk and he is better than those mentioned , Mbappe is not going anywhere Halland is in a good place that should he progress we can snaffle him,and Kane is finished because of injuries just like Santa Cruz, plus who ever we get is going to have to play in more than 1 position yet be able to play along side Jesus in the future, and that is why Isak`s gets Silva`s foreign spot for me.

I think Jesus is good enough to be a starting striker for us in the future, he has the potential to fill Aguero's shoes (maybe not goalscoring wise). That was a great piece of scouting, we'd probably have to cough up 100m to buy him had he joined another team

The Isak shout was not really hard for me to come up with. I've followed the guy since he was 16. He's the most hyped up player in the history of my local club, and the biggest Swedish prospect since Zlatan. I, for one, would really enjoy an AIK player at Man City. He would suit us great as well, he's very smart and can probably play every forward role imaginable and with any forward type on the planet. Very smart guy and great mentality.

I've seen people on this sub saying he can play across all 3 forward positions for some reason. I mean he maybe could but I don't think he's done that during his senior career. Maybe when he was a youngster. Isak's finishing and ability to find space in defences would be wasted on the wings. I think Jesus probably is much better on the wing than Isak, he also got experience of that. That said, Isak is a very versaitile forward type

The sad thing is that we don't really know the clubs policy with regard to loans, If you look at the youngsters we have sent out in the past they have never really been given an opportunity. On the other hand The one player coming through to be given the chance is Foden who has not been loaed out.

I think the clubs youth policy is to buy the best quality they can train the with the best coaches and team mates, so pushing them to the best they could possibly be, so earning a place at the top table when it comes to youth, moving players on is also dependent on moving them on to the best place possible, we are still growing in this operation so a world class player like Foden is rare and should stay with the first team on merit, if we have a problem it is the gap between our youth and first team squad we just do not buy in this gap for our EDS team

By this logic City do not believe in Foden, but they do believe in Aderbiola(sp), who has been out on loan for two seasons.
In my opinion they do believe in them , but that does not guarantee the next step. Garcia has played a fair bit in the cups, the other two are younger and have made their debuts, and trained with the first team. If you are training with the first team at City , someone likes you.

Different paths for different players, I think Garcia will stay with the first team , Harwood Bellis I think will be loaned. Doyle not sure but think he’s probably young enough to stay with the EDS for another season before they decide on his path , but think the club believe in them all.

There is a part of me that hopes the transfer market falls apart due to this virus and if the next 12 months becomes a write off it will be interesting to see how our squad looks in 12 -18 months.

Maybe it will result in our younger guys being given the opportunity to shine.

No Foden is in the squad on merit, the other 3 are most likely there for CL quota`s, and the cups so he can rest his first team players, I might be wrong but i believe Pep does not like dropping squad players for the CL because of quotas, team spirit and all that, it did help that the 3 were also in places that City were struggling in as well, as for Tosin he far ahead of the 2 CB`s as he is playing every week and learning responsibility whether he ever gets good enough for city is still dependent on growth of ability

While every club is getting linked with Leicesters left back they are looking at Tsimikas from Olympiacos if we can not get Alaba this lad may well be worth looking at

Not that symbolism has ever been reason enough for someone to be picked by Guardiola.

“It’s not because they are English players,” he said afterwards. “It’s because we believe they can do it. In this level, we don’t give presents for itself. They have to win this chance. From what we have seen so far, they have the quality to help us.”

The loss of Sane and D. Silva in one transfer indow is going to be huge -

Is foden ready to step up - as good as he is at the moment i dont think so but if we can get a deent replacement for Sane (someone with similar attributes) then I think we will be fine - we have Foden, B.Silva that can supplement what we lose with David Silva - but we have nothing to supplement the loss of Sane

We desperately need at least one centre half if not two and a decent left back to challenge and cover for Mendy's next injury and poor form

We also need to be way ahead in thinking who replaces Sergio or at least supplements our attack once he goes.

Edit - a huge couple of transfer windows are incoming and then you have to add up what Pep will be thinking of doing - will he stay or go - that will affect the targets who we go for and also the players who may/may not want to come in

As much as I get what you are saying Siva hasn't been himself this year and Sane hasn't kicked a ball Aouar and Foden will be able to fulfil that burden, I don't see us replacing Sane just premote Braaf.

Ederson, Steffen,??????

Walker,???????, cauto
Laporte, Garcia
???????,????????
Mendy,???????

Rodri, Fernandinho
Aouar, Gundogan
De Bruyne, Foden

Sterling, Braaf
Bernardo, Mahrez

Aguero, Jesus

I see the only way we sign a winger is if Mahrez looks to leave, I think that could be a good thing if it means we sign a left winger and move Raheem back to the right hand side.

fully agree on the mahrez bit and signing another winger

braaf - people seem to rate him - i havent really seen anything of him except snipit (he looks the part) - but could he step up - Pep seems to want to take it slowly witht he youngsters (not a criticism) and from what i hear abotu Braaf he seems to not have the patience that might be required to work his way into the first team squad and may do a sancho

Personally would still look at dembele at Barca to replace Leroy if sancho couldn’t happen. One thing hopefully to replace like for like with Leroy is blistering pace? We used to tear teams apart on the break With them De Bruyne through balls behind the defence for Leroy to cut in and set raz up at the back stick for a tap in.

Moussa Diaby would be perfect for that. Technical and left footed left winger. I'd argue he is even faster than Sané, especially off the mark. He's not the finished product but he seems to get better for every Leverkusen game I watch
