Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

I don't class footballers as essential workers but we're not talking about football taking the first step. You open according to importance. I get that. But you also open according to risk. There's little risk to society through 20 professional football clubs starting to play football.
Un-fucking-believable!

Premier League offered chance to finish season in Australia
The Premier League's been offered the chance of playing 9,000 miles away in Perth, Australia.

Top-flight clubs are currently looking at ways to complete the 2019-20 season, including using up to 10 neutral stadiums without fans.

However English football agent Gary Williams, who is based in the Australian city, has told BBC Radio 5 Live that he believes moving all remaining games there could be a realistic option.

He said he’s been having encouraging conversations with local politicians.

Speaking to 5 Live Sport’s Hugh Ferris, Williams said: “The flights would be direct from London to Perth and they’d have to do isolation when they got over here.”

I wonder if the stadiums would have fans and whether they would all be rags or would they be dippers? I suppose it wouldn't really matter who would be booing us

It's only the Mirror so make of it what you will but they have an article saying the 'Big Six' clubs are in conflict with the six teams at the bottom about neutral grounds. They say the top clubs are trying to split the bottom clubs by insisting that relegation would be based on current positions even if the season doesn't restart.

I would hope our club wouldn't be party to this but, hand on heart, I have a feeling we want the season to be completed by any means possible.

For the big 6 read, dippers, rags, and the 2 north London wanker clubs, who all have potentially something to gain from finishing the season.

I'd be amazed if we were in discussion with any of these two faced fuckers. And Chelsea have nothing to gain, the opposite in fact, the rags being gifted 4th.

Shot down already, the aussies have closed off their flights in to nobody but aussies, they won't open up for hundreds of more people from a hot spot

They are looking to remove relegation to appease the bottom 6 clubs. So we will have teams playing friendlies in neutral stadiums where there are no fans...…………

and they think people will be watching on tele !

And the players not tackling each other cos they don't want any contact, could catch on

The Sun suggest that premier league players eat at home before training? It is hardly as though they turned up had a meal then trained so they threw it up.

Nuuk will be the venue for the FA Cup all players live on cruise ships and take turns training on one pitch with 20 hours light helping out.

7 games in 12 days, fire engines fitted with brushes to clean between matches like those Ice Hockey resurfacing machines.

In the premier league the rest of the season only matters to a few vying for a European place and to avoid relegation. The rest couldn't give a fuck, including us who have as good as assured top four if we aren't banned from Europe. They need to just scrap the season, no relegation and promotion. European qualification is another situation. Who knows?

Sergio bless him looks like he has out about two stone on!

He will break his own record for world slowest substitute walk off if we get going again.

Takes him a few weeks to get firing again after injury!
