Yes and that paid off, however, an injury to Laporte and we’re in a massive massive hole.
Beside lacking a Left Footed player at CB, a "Top Drawer" at CB was not the main cause of our problems this season.
It was an issue, but not the biggest. It's just the obvious thing that most people focus on to try and explain our problems this season.
& at 20 years old Claudio Gomes is for the loan/get sold. He himself would rather a permanent move.

@OliMCFCSo we are going to loose Silva and Sane and replace them with Aouar, Almada, Amad Traore, Ihattaren and give more game time to Foden Barraf and perhaps Doyle and Bernabie does not really seem to make much sense
Not sure why posters are so hostile towards Ezzy personally .
If at the end of the transfer window nothing comes of his predictions then he will look *foolish, and if he is right then people can start to take notice .
Not sure that Super Joey Hart has contributed much of interest to the forum.
I think some people don't like when someone says a deal is done when nothing is signed yet. I remember few summers ago, you had some people saying Jorginho was done and while their information about the very mutual interest was true, we saw it could change very quickly as the market is very volatile. Not sure why posters are so hostile towards Ezzy personally .

Completely disagree with this assessment.
Bayern were already trying to drive the price down as much as possible. What this move does is take the pressure from Sane’s agent away from us and on to Bayern.
This is basically City saying to Bayern either pay up or accept you will have to wait another year to get him. It’s telling Sane to have a word with Bayern or risk not getting much football next year.
It’s not like City are demanding a ridiculous valuation either. Anything under £60 million is a bargain in today’s market for a player of Sane’s calibre.
This boils down to Sane agreeing terms with Bayern and rejecting City and Bayern trying the haggle the fee down as low as possible. Both of those parties have been playing us like a fiddle.
I for one, am glad the club has come out and put this nonsense to bed. If the move doesn’t materialise this summer, Sane should be asking serious questions of Bayern.
The statement makes no difference to any bargaining, the bargaining parties would all know anyway. The only people the statement makes any difference to is fans and we all pretty much knew as well too anyway. You're probably looking at this scenario purely from a City point of view. If you were to put yourself in Bayern's shoes why would you pay £60million for Sane now, when you can get him on a free next year.
Its not as if Bayern actually need Sane immediately, as if you look at their team I would argue they probably have the best squad remaining in the Champions League. Adding Sane to their squad would be a luxury & to build for the future. It would be another kettle of fish if Bayern were a team in decline & their bargaining power decreased.
So I would disagree stating the pressure is now off us & onto Bayern. All they need to do is sit tight & either pay a valuation which is decreasing due to this new economic climate or fall into their laps further on down the line. They've shown historically on a consistent basis of waiting it out to suit their needs.
By publicly declaring Sane will not resign with us, the financial pressure begins on whether we cash in now on a lower valuation or lose him for no compensation. I suspect City will not want lose out financially in a year with CAS hanging over our heads & the inevitable loss off revenue streams due to the pandemic.
Should have kept this statement within closed doors if only to set everyone's team expectations going forward & not at the expense of bargaining power.
@OliMCFC
In due time you will then. but just remember that for the past 2 years:
we have had 6 TOP Internationals in Attack.
we have had 6 TOP Internationals in Midfield.
I know of one manager who rather enjoys a bloated squad. it Gives him the chance to tinker and overthink to a greater extent.
you have to be 22 years old to be on the A list CL & Prem League list.
LOLAnd that's why I'm skeptical of your list of 7/8. We've had ready made/22+ yrs old players all this time, why would we suddenly scrap that when its delivered us the best success ever just to sign players who look like top prospects? With the new brexit rules on player signings I've no issue with City going out and buying say 15 youngsters for academy/loan etc to get the top talents in Europe tied down but I don't see it for the first team.
From his list I can see Aouar, Bastoni, Almada being in and around the first team, Ait Nouri maybe if Zinchenko and Angelino go. After that maybe Camavinga if Gundogan went. Traore and Ihatteren are two I struggle to see getting into the squad of 25 next season at least Doyle and Braaf would get in as club trained U21.And that's why I'm skeptical of your list of 7/8. Foden has been dripfed minutes, Doyle/Garcia/THB dripfed minutes, yet City will turn round and say all these youngsters are good enough now to be regular appearance makers whilst you four earned your place through being shining lights of the academy? What does it say to Cole Palmer, Jayden Braaf etc when we just buy players in their positions whilst they're earning their spots in the academy and yet to debut? That's before we even get on to the current first teamers.
Aouar and Almada look like genuinely good and realistic options. Bastoni does too. But I don't believe we're putting all this faith in youth when we've shown very little sign of that for 12 years under the Sheikh

If you look at the top journalist on transfers like Fabrizio Romano, he will tell you the strong interest of some clubs for some player but will hold on the "Here we go" until it is done done.
Di Marzio said Neymar was signing for Barça last year and it didn't materialize and he got a lot of shit for that.
Personally have no idea whether Ezzy wil be correct or not, I’ve enjoyed his posts because it’s created a good discussion on the direction our squad is taking over the next couple of seasons as we finally see the old guard leave.Sure I get that.
The " deal is done " phrase is often used incorrectly I agree. It can build the wrong picture in supporters minds , when it truth there is still some way before the player is actually signed and sealed .
The point I was making is that @Ezzy is making predictions which may or may not be accurate , but is he really doing any harm ?
If people don't believe his credibility, just ignore his posts, but why accuse him of " being full of shit " ?
@tolmie's hairdoo is a respected poster on the forum and I always read his posts with interest , but I suspect that not all his predictions become fact. Transfer business has many twists and turns and it until the transfer is " actually signed and completed " .
I personally don't find anything wrong with @Ezzy's posts but do think it strange that posters should be so offensive towards him .
Just my take on it .
