Lyon CL QF Post-Match Thread

That post mate is spot on and absolutely sums me up 100%.
You cannot concede three in a game and expect to win. We need to get the defence sorted and fast. That said we had all three defensive midfielders on and still had far too many one on ones with the keeper (similar to the Arsenal semi final). Defending against top class teams is not easy but our tactics appear to have been sussed and anyone with a forward with pace seems to give us problems.
Pep didn’t overthink it -he really doesn’t show much forethought at all in big games. When tell me anyone did he make game changing tactical master strokes to turn a big game around???

Is it arrogance if he’s changed the team to suit how the opposition plays?

Yes hes said you always play this way and we dont. But we will train at it for 3 days and we will be better.

No chance could we do that.

We are man city. We should play our way. But he keeps fucking it up when it matters

If we'd gone out there and played our natural attacking game and ended up losing 3-2 or something then I would have no complaints at all as at least we played our game and gave it our all. But to go out with a whimper having changed to a defensive formation and not playing the way we usually do just pisses me off to be honest. No doubt we'll end up spending hundreds of millions more on players and having the same result next year.

All the quarter finals have a similar feel to it, undone by lesser opposition, and because of Pep’s fiddling with formation we don’t play our best game

Someone needs to have a word with Pep. We need fucking arrogance. We are one of the best teams in Europe, we are going to play our game and see if you can live with it

Instead he sets up like a scared schoolboy against anyone half decent, it's embarrassing.

Cue the poisonous bile that a lot of our so called support are good at dishing out. Some of them didn’t even give a toss about this competition. Shame on you guys. Very unlucky city and feel sorry for sterling. Pep thank you for some amazing football this season. Well done to a very organised french team.

very thoughtful Stevie but cant help think he's made a complete hash of a wonderful opportunity. All our creative and positive players were on the bench. Bossed by a team finishing 7th in the "french" league...yes french league.

I know there are lots of appreciation of what pep did for us but teams do change managers and some of it are for the better

Our midfield bores the fuck out of me
Rodri and gundogan create nothing
Great pass completion fuck all else
Raheem misses too many big chances
That chance was criminal
Bores the fuck out of me also.

Rodri,Gundogan it is like the Tortoise and the Hare,i just dont rate them, both are too fucking slow.

The game was screaming for Foden, and Bernado,we were playing Lyon ffs.

We should not be trying to contain lyon

He had the resources to put them to the sword.

How many top managers would have been that negative with those resources in a one off knock out game against a mid table french side.

They had fuck all but our mistakes to capitalize on.

And they did just that.

fucking gash all game but ffs stop moaning about offside for goal. go and read rule book. we might not like it but if he does not touch he ball he is not offside. yeah probably foul when legs got tangled up but no offside at all even if the rule maybe needs changing

Correct result tonight, we didn’t deserve anything from the game, struggling to understand peps team selection and tactics, poor all game.

I honestly think Pep will consider walking....he looked absolutely befuddled as to why us matching their system wasn’t working, looked completely desperate begging VAR for a reprieve, and shell shocked at the final whistle, can’t bring myself to watch the interviews, is this the end for project Pep? Tiki, Soriano and the whole Spanish Clique, I really hope not but it looks like football is moving in a different direction to the tika-taka
He doesn't even get knocked out playing tiki taka, he gets knocked out by being negative. Going against everything that makes his teams so good.

VAR, pep, Raz, whatever. How many straight balls through the CBs have resulted in goals against this year. It’s fucking ridiculous

I hope your wrong but pep does look defeated. If only we replaced Vinny & had an aguero replacement ready I feel it would all be very different now. The game seems much quicker & more physical than what we offer
