CAS increased it to 11.6m i think and it took 2 years. CAS said that you cant predict the compensation as it is the impact it will have on the "wronged" party. I suspect the commercial impact of losing Messi will not be small, certainly compared to some bloke i hadnt heard of before.

I think the conclusion basically means using Webster is a huge gamble and will take a long time to be resolved.

But FIFA seemed to come to a reasonable fee a lot less than his clause, even though he had 2 years to go.

The same result, even with Messi's ludicrous release clause, also allowing for it being one year rather than two, plus his age, ought to be perfectly doable, if neccessary.

Edit: if it ended going to 2 years at CAS, we would have made the extra, before we had to pay it.

The greatest thing to ever happen in the world of football, Messi leaving Barcelona to sign for Manchester City.
And all we get from the media and sky is Harry fucking magire
I reckon he thought they were Albanians cos they had West Brom shirts on :-)

my first note, 14 years watching messi my heart is broken but it was a matter of when, coming to the blues with pep is like feeling the beginning of a story again, it will make it fantastic to see messi in the english football that both personally admire, see Messi is a privilege, I am Spanish who lived in Whifield (Bury) 16 years ago, my team in England in those days was Rafael's liverpool, now it's the city from the first day that Pep Guardiola arrived in the city, I hope to go very soon Let's see it live when we go to visit the family, my wife is English from bury (the shakers) what a shame many kisses we went to gigg lane, 135 years of history in the vasura we hope they solve something, well greetings to all
I hope it is resolved amicably.

Hi everyone and sorry for my terrible english.

I´m a Barça fan and a reader of this forum, because i like your club since the signing of Silva (and now i like it much more because Pep).

This is my opinion: you are going to sign Messi 100%. Because Messi wants to live the club, he´s decision is firm, he needs a new challenge, he knows the talent of Pep and is a Kun Aguero´s close friend. And the most important thing, you are the only club wich meets to fundamental conditions: have the chance to win important trophies and have the money to pay him.

My opinion, too: he´s not going to leave for free, he´s not right about his contract issue. And nobody is going to sing him in this conditions and risk for a vey expensive penalty. And there is another issue: the FFP. You have to lose some salaries to can afford his signing.

So, the only way is an offer with cash and players. Minimum two players and maximum 3. What players are interesting for FC Barcelona and no crucial for you? García, Gabriel Jesús and Bernardo. May be Cancelo, but probably not.

Probably, you may think you have much more power in the negotiation. And is 80% true. But this is not a normal transfer. Messi is the biggest legend in the history of the club and the person who sells him will be a real villain for all his live. So is gonna be a tought negotiation, and if Man City doesn´t do the correct offer, Bartomeu will be happy to reject it. And Messi can stay and change his mind because in march we will have elections and a new board.

And what is a proper offer to me? García, Bernardo and Gabriel and a small amount of money (20m?) or García and Gabriel and more money (80-100?). You can think is too much because he´s age and the difficult situation for our board. But remember that it´s not a normal player, he´s the symbol of the club, of the city and our hero. For less than that the fans will burn the Camp Nou and they probably will in any case. So i think you will sign him but it won´t be easy.

And my third opinion: a transfer to City is the best for all, Barça, City and Messi.

Post data: the song has to be "you´re my wonder Goat".

When all’s said and done I do feel a tad sorry for Messi, they’ve really fucked him big time here. Even if he wanted to stay I doubt he could

Smells very Raggy to me as someone with intermediate Spanish and an English degree. Not sure someone who has "terrible English" would know how to contract and use the possessive apostrophe. And then can't spell "which".

No one can give it but it insulates Bartomeu from creditors/lenders, sponsors, criticism (Internal/external) and fuels the continuity project. Losing him for nothing collapses the house of cards

Politics is an enormous influencing factor in football, esp. with Barca

Messi will not continue at Barca, of this I am certain. Just a question of fee (If any) and when since, at worst, he can always walk for free in June (Signing contract in January). Bartomeu is an idiot but he will look to ensure the biggest return possible and as we have seen during his tenure, he is a shit businessman

I'm beginning to see it as you do.

If Messi is talking about Barca's moral duty to let him go on a free, that tells me his legal case is thin.
