Simply clutching at straws - no matter whether they have any basis of fact or not - simply to keep the Rags and Dippers happy. When they can report even the most obscure transfer link to the rags the level of excitement and giddiness is palpable. I really can’t wait for the day when the wankers on SSN have to report that Messi has signed for Man City and wonder what other obscure cycling, darts or crown green bowls story they will use to keep It off the yellow ticker.
Is this the missing evidence linking Maguire's sister to the Albanian gangsters?

May be of interest.

The law could be on Messi's side
Barcelona Argentine might get his way

EL MUNDO
Messi believes his release clause is no longer valid
LaLiga warn Messi that he must pay his release clause to leave Barcelona
The ongoing dispute between Josep Maria Bartomeu and Leo Messi rolls on and, although Barcelona maintain that the player would have to pay his release clause to leave the club, the law could be in the Argentine's favour.
The burofax sent by Messi to Barcelona claims that his contractual agreement with the club allows him to leave at zero cost, which is being denied by the Catalan club as well as LaLiga.
However, Juan Ramon Liebana, a professor of law at University of La Rioja (UNIR) and member of the Arbitration Court of La Rioja, believes Messi will win the case.
Barcelona allege that there was a June 10 deadline for Messi to exercise that right of termination but, as the Argentine did not do so, the club considers the player to have renewed until June 30, 2021, while the player's lawyers rely on the fact that COVID-19 delayed all competitions, leaving the termination period open.
"That was for a transfer and not for rescinding the contract," Liebana told EFE, regarding the June 10 deadline.
According to Liebana, if the contract specifically states that date, Barcelona would be in the right but, if not, "it would enter the realm of interpretation, where Leo Messi will win for various reasons," he insists.
"Leo Messi's lawyers recall that the last competition that the Blaugrana played in, the Champions League, ended on August 23, so they assure that they are within time to have exercised the unilateral termination period of the contract," he explains.
Liebana believes that the clause in Messi's contract does not explicitly state a particular date of expiration but rather "within a period of X days" which would play in the Argentine's favour.
Furthermore, Liebana indicated that, in such a situation, Article 1281 of the Spanish Civil Code should be applied, which establishes that "if the words of the contract appear to be contrary to the evident intention of the relevant parties, the intention of the one under contract prevails."
"If the account offered by Leo Messi's lawyers, in which they maintain that the intention of both parties was to give a certain margin from the end of the Champions League to decide [his future] is true, the Argentine is right on this matter," he stated.

It sounds right that he'd probably win but the hard truths are

- he needs a resolution more quickly than Barcelona because he has 2 maybe 3 seasons left in his legs at the top
- Barcelona's threat to take legal action will scare off City based on the size of the risk.

I think they are threatening legal action as a negotiating stance to get a transfer fee. I think they are trying to get him to escalate the situation (refusing to play) to win a PR battle with Barcelona members.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the legal specifics they have leverage.

Asked this on the other thread but didn’t get an answer. Just catching up with the la liga statement from yesterday, is Tebas saying even if we where to agree a fee with Barca down the line he wouldn’t sanction the transfer unless the full buyout is met? totally Confused by it all. Surely if that was the case Fifa Would get involved?
If barca and city agree to a fee, there's nothing tebas can do to stop it.If he tries, just like the neymar case,FIFA would step in and order him to get on with it.

That was my response. It wasn’t my opinion you understand! A dipper mate said it

I thought accusing you of snorting with Merson was close to the “line”! (Get it) But then you confessed to being mates with a Dipper !... shakes head...

Well that's your assessment but consider that Messi can talk to who he likes on January 1st and agree a free transfer move at the end of the season. Furthermore, what kind of season are Barcelona going to have if they opt for 12 months of rancour with their talisman.

We can only place ourselves in their shoes, examine the evidence that we know of, and the popular conclusion is a compromise and transfer.

And pay him £1m a week to go thru the motions.

It looks like there is enough doubt about the clause that a fee would eliminate risk on all sides. Garcia plus one more peripheral player plus 50 million. Job done
Why? This is a legal matter, either Messi leaves on a free based on the legality of the clause, and we give them fuck all, OR the law rules against Messi and we either THEN agree a deal with Barca, or if we can’t then let them pay Messi for a season and we get him for a free in a years time. I don’t see any middle ground, as that relies on a compromise with a **** like Bartomeu, which isn’t realistic. At this stage this is for Messi, Barce and their lawyers to resolve

Ive already been told that Thiago Silva will be a better signing with more impact on the league. YCMIU
Chelsea will see it that way though, they lacked real leadership last season so this signing for them will fill that void, to be honest we also haven't filled the the leadership gap since VK left, hence the reason we've been sniffing around Bonucci

Hope you and your lad are well mate? It’s been a while!

Bonucci is a leader and ideal for us as we bring through the younger centre backs. Bring him in with Koulibaly and have Ake and Stones to make up the 4

PSG fans will tell you the one thing Silva doesn't have is leadership skills. Good player, mind. But not mentally tough.
