Angelino

I don’t necessarily agree with that. We need to be proactive sellers. Make these players attractive to buyers.

You are not seriously suggesting that there isn’t a team in Europe that wouldn’t put their hand in their pocket for Angelino? He’s a regular for Liepzig, CL experience, a good age and has experience in 3 major leagues.

A loan is a disgrace

Well Leipzig don't seem convinced enough to buy (the reported clause of him needing to play a certain amount of games in the 2nd half of the season is quite telling) and I haven't heard of other clubs beating down our door to sign him.

I think a big part of this deal is down to the player himself saying he would only go to Leipzig. Unlike sports in the US for example football players seem to have more control of where they go.

I'm sure Leipzig are just hedging their bets but surely we could have arranged a perm deal on smaller instalments of cash flow is an issue for German clubs. Thinking about it perhaps they are paying a loan payment on top of the obligated fee so we may not be as soft as some on BM suggest.

They are trying to take the piss, probably trying to engineer another loan. He was superb for them.

Yet are reportedly putting conditions on the loan to potentially avoid having to buy. Doesn't sound like they are totally sold on him. Most likely hedging their bets as they have doubts.

I get as frustrated as many at the fees for us but is is clear to me that we prefer to be very player friendly as a club. We ask for extreme loyalty on the way in, all but refusing to negotiate for players who won’t box themselves off to other suitors. We can’t then flog them wherever we so choose later. More than likely Angelino wanted to return there and given that we probably made promises to get him to return we do the honorable thing and land him somewhere he wants to be which in turn probably helps us with agents and other players

Zinchenko came in as midfielder and was then converted into a defender and was fantastic there in the 18/19 season IMO, Angelino was only ever brought back as it was a free hit, if it didn't work out he could always be sold for profit.

Mendy was one of the best young LBs in europe when we got him, unfortunately injuries have ended up with us only seeing glimpses of this.

Stones is a weird one, I want the guy to step up so badly, if he could of taken the first half of the 17/18 season and continued to perform that way, we'd have the best CB pairing in Europe imo. Unfortunately he didn't.

I don't personally see how these can be put down as a shambles in pep identifying defenders.

Zinchenko has never been fantastic at anything other than having a mouthy girlfriend. Mendy was fast with a lethal cross, but was always a rank bad defender - that didn't change.

Why the fuck did we buy Angelino in the first place when there are leftbacks like Telles, Reguillon, Tagliafico. Unbelieveable. When will Pep stop making mistakes buying defenders? He gets like haft of his targets right. So sick of this bad business.

Get rid of Stones, Otamendi, Zinchenko and Angelino, keep Garcia, buy Koulibaly and get a proper fucking leftback in. How hard can it be?!

Angelino cost us about 4 million and has been sold for a huge profit very good from a business point of view Telles Reguillion and Tagliafico would all cost more than we have just sold Angelino for I am guessing also do not think many where talking about them when we bought Angelino either because they had not been as good in previous seasons or because people thought Angelino was the answer given his form in the Netherlands or both

Disagree mate, they are attempting to take the piss out of us. He gets in our team if we played 3 atb with wing backs. Tolm said City weren't happy with them a few weeks ago, they sell Werner, then plead poverty over Angelino.

Keep Garcia ? Even though he will end up going for nothing ?

I only look at quality. We could get 15-30m for Stones this window. Next summer he’ll only have one year left and we won’t get much then.

Garcia is better than Stones and although he won’t extend, the value he brings in terms of defending is worth far more than cashing in 10-15m for him now.

If we sell Stones now, we’ll get 15-30m. Next summer, Garcia will be gone for nothing. Then use the money we got from Stones (this window) and buy a 4th CB in the summer of 2021. Problem solved.

Anyone else think we let him go for way too cheap?
100%. Whilst we're not a selling club, we're the absolute worst when it comes to selling players. Sane we barely made a profit on. Danilo I'm guessing was only such a high fee so we get the money instantly to buy Cancelo (like Pjanic & Arthur). Why are we putting in such weird clauses like must play X games for Angelino? He's good enough to play a Champions League semi final for them, but we're allowing minimum game clauses?

Jokes aside about still spending the Coutinho money, Liverpool have rebuilt the team from that sale. 40 mil for Solanke & Ibe is mental. Chelsea made 100mil+ on Hazard and he only had 1 year left. They made ridiculous money from Oscar, Matic & Morata, who are bang average players, giving them 150mil+.

But when it gets to Koulibaly, we're being pulled from pillar to post by someone we hate dealing with. He wants to leave, has had an average season, they need to balance the books from signing Osimhen, and they haven't reached the Champions League. We should be all over this. Surely we have other targets in place? 40mil+ for Ake when Bournemouth have just been relegated? We just can not negotiate.

It's all well and good talking about our wage structure, but I'd rather the players get the money they deserve & we make the money back by not selling good players for way below market value.

Why aren't they bidding 20M plus this year then? They'd save themselves up to 40M.

I’m not convinced he will but Barca or anyone else don’t need to take the risk at the moment. They aren’t Dortmund or Seville, just like City they want the real deal

What makes this worse is that Angelino could have a stormer, Liepzig buy him then immediately flip him for huge profit. Just like Lavente did when we have them Caciedo for peanuts

I say again, all of Europe was aware he was up for sale and Leipzig were not prepared to pay the buy-out clause and yet there were no takers. Simple supply and demand.

That is the main point many fail to see, this deal is priced the way it is because no other club offered more.

We’re not terrible at selling players. Angelino was bought back and sold for a profit, good business doing pretty much nothing.

I am sick of Pep coming here and winning all these trophies despite not being able to put a defence together thats better than the Dog & Duck in a sunday league team.

He hasn't been sold. He's been loaned with a very loose obligtion to buy

Yea ok, you know what I mean. I’d be surprised if he doesn’t feature in the reported 12 games he needs to in order for obligation to take effect.

So they will likely buy him and it will be a profit for us.
