Extremely disappointed if we sign Diaz. Same league and team that sold the rags Lindelof. This transfer window is turning into a disaster.

The Rags have been a disaster since he joined.

A lot of people argue that we dodged a bullet with Sanchez, Jorginho, Fred etc but if they’d come to our much better team their outcomes might have been significantly different.

Dias won’t be defined by what league he has come from, by all accounts he has looked good at international level.

Good height and physicality, good passing, decent pace, and a leader whose position is RCB. All promising.

If he comes let’s see how he does before we write him off.

I love the transfer hype was better years ago when we where going to sign a world class free transfer who would guide us to the promised land of Europa league.

I must have missed the briefing where Txiki or Pep or Berrada or Soriano or Khaldoon told everyone which players we were interested in and how much we were prepared to pay. A lot of you seem to take what journalists say at face value have none of you learned that they are no nowts. Thé City name like United are used by clubs agents and papers for their own purposes and rarely is it used for the purpose of truth.

When we want a player we go quietly and quickly no fuss no shouting from the rooftops so rather than denigrate the employees of the club why not say to yourselves who is giving out this information and why. Twitter is unreliable and should not be taken as gospel

Think what happens is we make a bid for a player that team says it be 20m more and we move while that club and agent keep spouting shite in the media.

Do people on these threads genuinely think /know so much about all these young european players from pot2-3 CL clubs?

I'll be honest, i've seen as much of diaz and kounde as i had of ederson, laporte, bernardo, mendy, torres, sane, kdb etc at the time we signed them. Which is, a handful of appearances here and there, either CL or national side more than their respective leagues.

With these types of players in that age bracket, doesnt matter whether they play for benfica or Barcelona, heck theyve only been playing 2 or 3 years at that level most, hardly enough to really establish thenselves as a name. But it is the profile of player we have been after, and thatbseems to be the model.

I was excited about kounde. Not because i know enough, but because he is that profile, unlike koulibaly who imho is expensive for that age with zero resale value. I am no less excited abourlt diaz, and we Have been linked with him in the past so hardly a scrape of the bargain bin. Maybe we didn't think he was available or affordable earlier in the summer and tried other targets. Maybe we really did go for it as fourth choice. Either way, the club wouldn't be paying what they are to bring him (or anyone) if they didnt see it as the right move.

I'd go with your gut instinct on that one ;-), you're right though, no way the club is bringing someone in just for the sake of it, they'll absolutely see him as being a good fit regardless.

City have demonstrated a lot of patience this window. We have prepared a list of targets and if the selling club is taking the piss we move on. Any of these defenders will improve us. First or last on list is of little consequence. Fans have been crying out for city to stop overpaying.

We did the same with Maguire and Sanchez. The club is probably sick of getting ripped off in the transfer market by clubs who then sneakily plot against us with the aid of Uefa to fuck us over with FFP.

this 100% doesn't matter what choice he is , he’s clearly a upgrade on otemendi and stones.

one way or another we’ve missed out on our main targets constantly over last couple of years and it hasn’t done us any harm .

also all these people rating this players and pretending they watch benfica are full of shit, they’ve all been on youtube watch compilations

No way was Linfelof as good as Dias imo.
Oh not saying he is, I think that article is very balanced but I guess the quality of the league must be considered. Javi Garcia, Fernando and that William Carvalho all looked the dogs there as well. But if you’re a good player you’re always gonna stand out in any league. I think if you look around the 3 spots we are weakest in lb cb and cf are spots that lots of clubs are weak in and there is a lack of available options/quality in generally. Only Bayern look to have a top starting 11 with no obvious weakness. Liverpool really only have VVD as CB, he’s carrying the others in the way VK made anyone who played with him look better. The best CFs in the world bar Mbappe are all wrong side of 30

I wouldn't want Bayern's defence tbh.

Still a week to go, we’ll bring a CB in but can’t help thinking this window after being highly anticipated will end up being like the 2011 one after we won the league for first time. Still lack a quality LB and another top class striker.

I’m not so concerned re left back now, Mendy’s fit again (and might even stay fit and move up a few notches), Cancelo was ok in that slot at the tail end of last season, and we’ve got Ake who can do a turn there as well.

I have my fingers crossed for a striker though.

I don't get how people.find all this chaotic, exciting, fun, frustrating etc etc.

Transfers are dull as fuck, the only excitement is when they are announced and all the better if unexpected, all the rest is a pantomine and bollocks.
Hey, people pay to watch pantomimes. This is free. Discount the ITK and twitter garbage and it‘s fun to watch the wild, polarised reactions, the vain hope and the deep despair.

One astonishing aspect is how even the most obscure rumoured target from the southern Andes slopes teases out forensic analyses by posters who have studied him for two decades. This is particularly helpful in guiding the rest of us to comment just how brilliant/ordinary/shite he is without being arsed to watch You Tube.

Cynicism apart, there’s some good banter and verbal skirmishes among the myriad posts. What will we all do when the transfer window closes?
