Nobody WANTS to be locked down, do they.

Some people realise it is their RESPONSIBILITY for the good of others, if not for themselves. The more selfish types seem to struggle with this concept.
Six months on and you guys still haven’t grasped that herd immunity is the best way to protect the vulnerable, so the opposite of being selfish. I’ll check back in in another six months to see how many millions more youngsters have lost their jobs, committed suicide, been diagnosed with cancer, had their education ruined, thanks to this unselfish policy of locking down the young and healthy who are largely unaffected by this virus.

Just listening to that guy from Notts (presumably) posted a few pages back.
Fair play to his analysis and I can't see a great deal of political bent either way if any.

This thread has been like a cranky roller coaster over the past few weeks (echoing what's going on in the world with the virus).

It's a horrid situation it really is and though I'll continue to dismiss the conspiracy theories, wear masks and observe social distancing (I've been in one pub all year) I could really do with the fucking vaccine nailed ASAP please Santa Claus.

well yes, i wanted to point out it's far from one sector of society.

i also think those who advocate a split approach might be shunning or stereotyping a section of society.

zero easy answers in this one.

That's when the real fun starts.

'' It's designed to kill us!!''

'' No ones making me take this Vaccine ''

'' Bill Gates is Microchipping us ''

the rise of the looney's will be off the scale.

The over 60s are mostly retired I would imagine and don't need to be going out to work ever day. They are in a position where they can take the necessary precautions to protect themselves. Before anyone says it's not fair to ask the over 60s to stay in and isolate, that's pretty much what's happening anyway so why make everyone else also lockdown prolonging the inevitable. Those that don't want to take the necessary precautions, well that's their decision everyone knows the risks.
Sixty is young and the pension age is years over that, you are wrong to think they are mostly retired lol

.
What exactly do you mean by 'looking into' ( as opposed to actually doing it).
And of course if you (or the Government) actually did it and were ' completely wrong' the impact would be catastrophic.
So time to come of the fence and say what you actually would do instead of hinting based on a minority scientific report being pedalled about.

What you talking about you silly sod, I literally(word of the day) said gut feeling and could be wrong. How do you possibly leap to I want the govt to act on my gut feeling about what happened in London.

Now I know Boris is a pillock but I’m not expecting a phone call anytime soon. It’s a Covid thread not a government think tank.

I’m of the opinion that no one really knows what to do and I’m hapoy to state clearly I am among them.

Carry on.

The areas who have closure of all licensed premises, inside and out are Greater Glasgow, Clyde, Ayrshire and Arran, Lothian and Forth Valley. Cafe's with no alcohol licence will be allowed to stay open to 6pm. Hotels can stay open
to residents.

These areas also have the added restrictions:-

Contact sports (non professional) suspended for the 16 days.

Snooker, pool, bowling alleys, casinos and bingo halls all must close for the 16 days.

No outdoor live events in these areas either.
So professional sport continues yet the lads in the park can’t. Like I said earlier utter fucking joke.

I agree.

What we are seeing is a train wreck in slow motion. It is clearly spreading like wildfire amongst the young and careless. And whilst that will not in itself result in a huge increase in deaths - due to the very low levels of fatalities in a largely young and healthy demographic - this increased level of infection across society is inevitably going to seep through into the vulnerable demographic because they won't be able to isolate themselves from care-workers, family members doing the shopping for them, the paper boy, the window cleaner they pay every 6 weeks etc. All of whom are going to be infected in much larger numbers.

So we are going to see a big spike in deaths again in the over 60's, but it will take a few weeks for this to percolate through. For them to get infected, get ill, go into hospital, go into ICU and then die. It's probably 4 to 6 weeks from now that the idiotic behaviour of far too many people is going to be truly and horribly realised. There was a man, his wife and 3 kids swanning around Morrisons on Monday night for example, and none of them wearing a face mask. How the fuck is that allowed to happen.
Boris is a dick

We're going to completely destroy the country. Once the hospitality sector closes, most of it won't be reopening again. Just like the initial lockdown, this won't be a 2/3 week thing. Case numbers and deaths will only increase as we do further testing and get deeper into winter, so if the current numbers are enough to close pubs and restaurants then they'll be shut until Spring, if not forever.

Greater Manchester has been under local restrictions since July and they've done absolutely nothing to stop the spread. The more places we close, the more people will just socialise at each other's houses. The people who are actually following the current guidance are very much in the minority.

It's gotten to that stage where it's either a full national lockdown being reintroduced, furlough scheme and all, or just keep everything open and carry on. Because half-measures/regional restrictions/new guidance etc are just going to be completely ignored as people grow more and more tired of the whole situation.

So professional sport continues yet the lads in the park can’t. Like I said earlier utter fucking joke.

Its not really is it ? The professional teams have to stick to guidelines that just are not possible with 22 lads running around a park. its called a common sense approach. Somethings have to give, unless you suggest they do nothing. What would your solution to this issue be ?
