Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

If he does leave I’m not really sure where he’d go. He’d most likely take a break of course but there aren’t many clubs out there that fit his profile. He also wouldn’t have as much free reign as he does here anywhere else. In that respect we are the perfect club for him in my opinion.

I think if the players keep playing for him and keep believing in him and his methods then he will stay.

That being said if he does go we could do a lot worse than Pochettino.

If and when he leaves City my guess is that he'll go to Italy; either Juve or Inter probably, see if he can win the title in four different countries. Or somewhere completely left field like America.

Hopefully not for a while yet though!

Whatever Pep does I cannot see him going back to Barcelona at the moment. He left due to toxic politics. Guess what. The politics are worse and they have less money. If Pep does go, it’ll be for another challenge that he’s identified.
There's little chance he'd go there. They're a wreck at the moment.

He will go to Juventus or PSG. Both will be there to sign him and have the capacity to outbid Barca. Moreover, both have something that Barca can not guarantee, success. I sincerely doubt he will ever go back to Barca to be their manager. Too high risk of tarnishing his already perfect legacy. He will never manage Spain so until Catalonia is independent, he won’t manage a nation.

The way things are going, I don't think that Pep dose deserve a new contract. Over the last two seasons Pep has done nothing to halt the decline in the team. We have been crying out for a back up striker since the start of last season. So what has Pep done about it, absolutely nothing. Pep knowing that, both Sergio and Jesus are at one time, either one or both of them likely to be out injured at the same time.

So Pep's better sort out our problems by the time the next game against Arsenal at home. However I won't hold my breath that Pep will do anything to surprise us. To me I don't think that Pep has any idea what to do to change things.

We are already 8pts behind the league leaders which are Everton. How can a team like Everton be so far ahead of City. Perhaps it is the players they have bought, even Livarpool have bought players to improve their squad. Yet Pep has yet again bought players who may improve our squad and I some will go straight out on loan.

So what I want to know is what the hell is Pep transfer strategy. Most of his transfers have promising players, who have gone straight out on loan and more than likely never to be seen playing for us. I would rather have players coming in who can come and play in the first team straight away, not someone who will only be sold at a profit.
Game in hand

Boggles my mind that fans completely ignore the players we've had injured and expect us to perform like in the centurion season. They also dismiss the possibility that other teams will buy new players and get this....improve, wow the nerve of it.. I mean how dare they try and work out how we play !

This season we've played 3 games without strikers. I know he's a magician but come on be reasonable. We've just signed 2 very decent CB's and we have Sergio and Jesus to come back. We'll undoubtedly hit our stride soon.

Whenever pep's leaves city, I see him going to Italy. He would love to change the Italian way of approaching football.

What's wrong?
He did 5 years at Barca and needed a year off
--> 4 years with the 1st team, 1 year with a 4th division B team - apples & oranges. Might as well point out he spent an additional 20 years at Barca since he was a ball boy, youth & senior player too

He has completed 4 seasons with City's senior team and already acknowledged that he has gone beyond what he believes is the typical cycle for a coach at this level considering the demands. To go beyond that, despite having a fairly ideal situation at City does not change the premise of my original post - a reset is needed for a coach like him

We'll see of course but I am skeptical and see him closer to the end of his tenure at City

Your arguing for the sake of it!
I said he was at Barca for 5 years as a coach...... Which he was and he needed a break afterwards. Since then he will have spent 8 years at 2 other big clubs(at the end of this year) with a lot of pressure.
So agreeing with you that I think he will walk but I also added I think he might want a break.... Especially given he has just lost his mum.

Not sure why you were being a dick then!

For what it is worth, i still think he will extend. I thought that since February right through to the conclusion of our CAS case. Something seems to have shifted following the end of the post lockdown season, seemingly not just with pep but the club as well (as i read into it anyway). But part of me thinks he is still keen to extend, and the club to have him, but neither feel the need to rush it and both seem comfortable taking the time to make sure it is right.

I think those saying he won't because he hasn't stayed longer before are latching onto a bit of an obvious headline narrative. May well end up being his last year, but if it does, it won't be Because he has never done it before elsewhere, it will be because something has changed. He has previously simply not been at the right clubs. Or, not at the right time at least.

Similarly with people claiming burnout, because the headlines constantly spoonfeed that he burns out, so we now look for a sign of it and conclude that even losing with dodgy VAR decisions must be because he is suffering burnout.

Time will tell, i am still in the extend camp though.
