im surprised at the lack of dialogue around shops, shopping, shopping centres etc. They were shown in data to be as contributory as pubs etc, if not more. Appreciate food shopping is far more important but does tier 3 include closing f**king Primark?

Warrington MP furious at Boris for telling her Warrington is in Merseyside. It is in Cheshire of course, and no more in Merseyside because of the Mersey passing through it than Stockport or Didsbury.

Tell her to pipe down...Warrington has 318 cases per 100k. It doesn’t matter where it is.

I keep hearing the NHS is open as usual but I'm number 18 in the phone queue at my GP's - and we're in one of the lowest risk areas. Seems to have been the case every time I've needed to get in touch with them this year - anyone else having this sort of experience or is it just the wheels falling off at my surgery?
No it's not just yours, our has been like that since the start of lockdown, in fact before, you've more chance of an audience with the queen than speaking to anyone in our surgery, car park is still full though, what on earth they are doing in there is anybody's guess.

Solitaire?

Boris just seemed to suggest locals in Manchester should pressure local politicians to be in tier 3 so the government can offer more help to local businesses.

yeah I thought that too. It’s what the Cheshire councils did.....so they can spunk more tax payers cash on er er ‘stuff’

Regional scoreboard good elsewhere but not for the NW sadly.

London 801 - up from 637 - but otherwise lowest in a week.

Midlands 938 - down from 946 - 5 of the last 6 numbers have been between around this level.

North East 1150 - up from 967 - but again around what it has been for a week.

Yorkshire 1953 - down from 2003.

But North West still driving the epidemic with 3981 - UP from 3519 and third successive daiky increase.

Also means if GM goes out of control and gets forced into tier 3 he can say - well we wanted you in tier 3 but were pressurised out of it by all your local leaders who were adamant t was not needed. So go blame them if you are in these restrictions now longer than you needed to be.

Seems GM Labour politicians have been pressing all weekend to stay out of tier 3.

13,972 cases - up 1100 on yesterday but still quite lowish - just 1430 up on a week ago.
maybe its stabilising? That said I dont think the testing is very accurate. My niece lives in a student house with three other girls. They all came down with the same classic covid symptoms at the same time. All got tested the same weekend and two came back positive two negative.

Excellent from the Government and Boris - continue to be bold in managing the impossible balance between economy and health and standing tall surrounded by the noise and bluster from the masses.

Boris doing a fantastic uplifting speech in the house this afternoon.

Remain steadfast.

England hospital data: Another rise of 214 - to 3665. Thats 440 up in 48 hours. It was 2593 a week ago.

And big rise in ventilators too - up 25 in the day to 426. It was 331 last Monday.

Does the “High” tier still allow me to take my kid to our ‘childcare bubble’ household during the week? Or not? Is “high” effectively exactly the same as the local restrictions we had prior?

right, BM virus control group - what happens if we're vaccine-less in the spring and there's no realistic outlook for one? discuss
