They aren’t using hard hitting enough language!

Whitty then was saying “if you all hadn’t been doing what you have been over the last few months, these numbers would be worse”

It’s all far too soft!

What he should be saying is “if you were all sticking to the rules, the numbers would be lower. Breaking the rules leads to people losing their jobs and businesses and people dying so stop breaking the rules you stupid selfish people. We will fine you, we will arrest you, you are killing people, so stop”!

fair point on track and trace but again I am not sure whether that’s a central PHE decision or govt, I don’t know .

everyone seems power mad on this, I would gladly delegate it if I was PM!!!
I think it was Boris’ Ministers tendering out contracts to Serco etc. Maybe Boris was ill or on paternity leave for part of that time.

I thought Starmer was bellyaching during PMQs. I’m just glad we aren’t all in Tier 3.

labour would not have done any better as they would have had the same civil servants and the exact same SAGE specialists and the same people running the NHS and PHE . Unless of course kier could depart from the scientific advice.

however where boris has totally fucked up Is Comms.

the communication throughout this has been dreadful. Winging it , flowery language. Flip flopping all the time.

people just lose confidence.

compare with the tartan fuhrer . She has done pretty much the same things as the Tories and in fact I think they have performed no better or even worse on a per capita basis .

the difference is she provided clear guidance using language which is precise , consistent and regular. It gives confidence and trust,

waffle, ambiguous language and using long words impresses nobody and just makes people think you haven’t a clue.

leadership has been seriously lacking,

she has just tried to point score and go one further than the pm each time to differentiate with England. I have just listened to his eoeech today. Unless people are a bit thick it was quite clear.

I don't a fuck about whether Johnson wants us to go back into full lock down or not because thats where we are inevitably going as long as he is wedded to SERCO Track and Trace - and he has to remain that way or admit he fucked up and then face up to questions about the money...... he's not a clown he's a dangerous idealist

agreed to be fair as far as greater Manchester it’s actually better as we can now meet family outside including garden whereas currently we can’t mix indoors or outdoors.

nobody knows that len it’s an opinion. There isn’t a parallel universe
True.
But basic competence could have done a much better job with PPE and test track and trace.
No need to give all the contracts to your cronies.
We are top of the death rate and economic hit leagues.
The Government are incompetent.
Why are you giving them the benefit of the doubt?

leadership has been seriously lacking,

We have had leaked emails from those scientist civil servants saying the government didn't listen to them and they got bollocked for saying scientific driven things that didn't fit the government plan.

So while I can't say if Labour/Starmer would have listened and not tried to ignore the bits of scientific advice they didn't like, but you cant say they would do what Boris' government did.

Whitty , the people are not scared, they want clear instructions and the facts (tbf the medics have but boris hasnt )

We cant do this without doing harm , health v economy , trying to find a balance , whatever we do is not easy

The majority are following the rules

The winter is not going to be easy

That’s very true but I’ll tell you what, the people are as much to blame as anything the govt have or haven’t done.

It’s easy to blame the govt, I’ve done it myself, but when you see all these idiots not sanitising their hands or wearing masks in shops or workplaces, people visiting others’ homes in restricted areas, people going out and gathering in crowds for football celebrations or protests, people clogging up the roads and packing out the beaches when it was hot, people hosting house parties or organising raves... you couldn’t make up a more stupid set of idiots doing more stupidly idiotic things during a pandemic if you tried, yet our population have been doing this shit all the way through since March.

If people had stuck to the rules, we’d be in a much better situation and the govt would have had an easier and more manageable situation.
