My best mate is licensing officer for one of our local councils. It is definitely being policed mate.
By how many though ? A handful I expect, and they can only be at places briefly, if they're touring the area.

I wasn't getting at the people doing it, I'm glad somebody is, but there'll never be anywhere enough money to pay for enough to make it work well, just like quarantine, or self isolation, nowhere near enough to police it all I'm afraid.

We are relying on the great british public to self police, and sadly many just won't.

However the main point of my post was MESSAGING, it's just shit, aimed at completely the wrong parts of society, those that are listening to it the way it's presented, have always listened and followed the rules, as somebody above said it's too soft, but above all it's completely missing those that need to hear it.

Thinking of my daughter quitting Liverpool uni and going back next year. She is in a room on her own and just totally depressed and not well at all.
Thats not a bad decision at all mate. weve been contemplating the same thing the past couple of weeks. She has had little support from the Uni. She has been so down the past few weeks. And has just recovered from Covid and completed her period of isolation. The industry she wants to work in, the music industry has been decimated. She can find no work, has no gigs, and is running up huge debts that we are supporting. I dont have a problem with that but some of her course is now online. Its a real tough place right now for some and my daughter is in her final year not her first like yours. just support her all you can. that all you can do.

True.
But basic competence could have done a much better job with PPE and test track and trace.
No need to give all the contracts to your cronies.
We are top of the death rate and economic hit leagues.
The Government are incompetent.
Why are you giving them the benefit of the doubt?
Bollocks

Serious question but after 7 months of being able to plan for this moment where a second wave is happening is this the best they can come up with? Still stinks of policy being made on the fly and the explanations are not strong enough for me.
It’s a pandemic, no guideline for this

Aren’t they 2/3 weeks behind the cases though?
They are but you have to factor in it takes about a week to go in and another 3 weeks ish to several months to die of it , in the meantime icu gets full. I think i heard a consultant from manchester this mornig say something about how many more are in icu but i wasnt sure, also not everyone who is positive are getting a test

imo hospital admissions and icu numbers are the important ones, as already said i have a big problem with the 28 day cut off for deaths but that seems to be just me

Don't let her give up, there will be life after this, and I'm sure that industry will bounce back quickly driven by young people like your daughter.

Yes it's tough, but she should get her course finished, she'll be in a far better position when it's done.

My two both went through their courses, but neither work in their chosen fields now, but are both doing very well for themselves in a different career.

Does anyone know if the area around Carden Park is going into level 2?
Chester CH3 9ER
I've a lads golf weekend booked for my mates 50th and not sure if we're able to go? Even if it's level 2 I'm not sure. It says level 2 pub/restaurants closed to people not in the same family group. But nothing on hotels? Confused.com
Stay home, do u need telling

Because whitty has always said that they provide the evidence and the gov take the decisions , everything that has happened since test target day has been gov spin ,whitty wants more restrictions not less , that was full on shade
Does Whitty know economics, or is he he a scientist

Not sure you should have gone anyway regardless of what’s been said today.

So why are the press twisting the narrative and the facts?
To me The Trafford Centre should be locked and shut, the place is a joke and as we hit the winter months more idiots will frequent the place and the virus loves the indoors.

Who wants to read about a handful of people going shopping? I thought you would have known how it works, the more people that read the shit the more money they get.

That's a picture from the day they were supposedly packed in like sardines. No one even there other than those queuing.

Good piece on the problems vaccine availability and choice might soon create:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/12/health/covid-vaccines.amp.html
That article just reinforces my reservations about vaccines being a "magic bullet", there are too many ifs and buts with the rushed testing and the many different approaches to producing the vaccines. I hope I'm wrong but it could still be a few years before this virus is close to being under control.
