England hospital deaths 68 - 25 in the North West by far the most again - versus 54 last week and 22 NW. Could have been worse. But that is now 155 in the past 48 hours versus 104 in the same two days last week, A 50% increase.

Yep. For what its worth, it of course wouldn't stop everyone being dickheads, but I think there are a lot of people who are kinda on the cusp of following the rules/not giving a shit. It's those people which probably make up the majority of the country. If we had leaders who could actually appeal to those people on a regular emotional level, while clearly showing that they were taking it seriously, then maybe we could have been in a better position. That's long gone now though. Balance well and truly tipped into the 'not giving a shit' position for so many.

Things like the app etc may have been delayed / fucked up but the government can't take responsibility for people's actions. We all need to look at ourselves and ask what we have to do to reduce infection rates. Stop going to the pubs and bouncing around like twats might be a start as would isolating whilst waiting for a test and if you have a positive one. I always thought the country was full of selfish, stupid and ignorant twats and this pandemic has proved it

A lot of people feel like that if the pubs are open then it must be safe to go to them. They are being led the government messaging. We were actively told to go to these places during August. It doesn't mean they're all irresponsible or stupid or selfish.

The government has been massively blasé about how and when it introduces massive rule changes and it's very little wonder the serious nature of them isn't resonating with people.

The government didn't take it seriously in the beginning and they haven't taken the threat of a second wave seriously either. Of course that affects people's behaviour.

Not only that, most people don't even know what the rule are any more, because they haven't been communicated properly.

In the absence of leadership though, i agree though that we all need to be thinking about what we can be doing to minimise risk though.

So all those idiots in Liverpool last night decided to congregate en masse, possibly spreading the virus to many more people because Cummings drove to Bernard Castle! They did it because they think that even if they catch the virus it won't harm them, they are either students dossing about or people on furlough and won't isolate even if they do catch it. It's only when a family member catches it because they have infected them will they start to think about their stupid actions. I read last week that GMP has issued around 550 fines since March for non compliance, Israel the other week issued 7,000 in one day alone. We are not the only country who has idiots but at least there is some consequence in other countries that we don't appear willing to do

My guess is that they have been told the pubs near them are closing and are having one last blow out.

This could have been avoided if the measures had come into place immediately, rather than giving a few days notice.

They did it because they feel it won't harm them because months of unintentional conditioning has told them exactly that. Yes, they're dickheads, of course, i'm not denying that, but I hand on heart believe many would have made a different choice if this had been managed well. If you can't see how months of saying 'its fine! go back to work! go to uni! eat out to help out!' and then ministers and health officials breaking all the rules won't lead to people doing what they did last night, well I don't know what to say. Of COURSE all that has an impact.

12 Oct adds 36 = 51 after two days - the highest number after 2 days since 4 June.

11 Oct adds 11 = 57 after three days - the highest number after 3 days since 10 June (notice how these are slipping backwards regularly now)

10 Oct adds 3 = 48 after four days

9 Oct adds 6 = 40 after five days.

The other 3 deaths were from 8 Oct (now total 52), 5 Oct (now totals 36) and 2 Oct (now totals 45)
