Not having a clue about international finance I have been puzzled as to where we are borrowing all this money from. Since most countries are having to spend lots in support to folk affected by the pandemic it seems somebody/something must have had an awful lot of cash stashed under the mattress.

Thanks for a detailed response, most appreciated. I am older than you but would not be rushing to the front of the queue. Over this year, I have become very sceptical of the Government and simply have become paranoid that any vaccine rushed through might not be as safe as it should be.

Many will see that as being nonsense, but that is my thinking.

I would love to be able to proclaim that you are indeed talking absolute nonsense and to confidently tell you to stop being a silly old sod! I "THINK" I can but am not sure by any stretch. You may have noticed I too have at best no faith and at worst a deep distrust and dislike of our government equally the opposition.

I have absolutely no doubts at all that there will be some staggering clusterfucks when it comes to the vaccine. Thankfully these are likely to be to do with the distribution and administration rather than the vaccine itself. Thankfully it is not the government or opposition or anyone to do with them who are making these vaccines, and too many in number worldwide to prevent any negative stuff regarding these drugs from coming out. Were it too come out that messrs Johnson, Starmer, Hancock had actually been involved in working out the ingredients of said vaccines then I would be very fucking upset indeed.

Some one on here maybe able to link somewhere but I am sure I read an explaination as to why these vaccines can be considered very safe, i cannot recall enough detail to relay it but it did seem to make sense. I am sure when they start rolling it out there will be plenty of focus on reassuring people of the safety of it. The other reassurance I take is that every other country in the world are involved so in the grand scheme of things there is a limit to how our overlords can manipulate the situation.

We have taken the sars and mers research and used it for this one , we got the genetic code for covid very early on , together with gov taking away a lot of red tape we will have a vaccine quickly , tbey are amongst the safest form of medical interventions , maybe the safest , we are very experienced in this area, the involvement of the wellcome trust should reassure everyone , it is fast because vaccine technology is fantastic nowadays

The gov have nothing to do with the creation of a vaccine , the safety trials or when they are passed as safe , buying up millions of doses and the drug companies prepared to gamble and mass produce the vaccines being tested means we can roll it out when it is ready , it is not rushed or will not have cut safety and efficacy corners , trust me

This I hope helps to reassure a few because I do believe even for the young and healthy the tiny risk posed by having a vaccine is going to be so much less than risking covid. After all whilst it might not kill the young and healthy the incidence of Long Covid in that age group is most certainly of concern and would/should be the deciding factor in whether or not to have it.

Agreed but it may well be that as progress in medicine is made that some of those regulations hoops to be jumped through and red tape that must be battled with can be safely removed due to those hoops having already been jumped through several times before?

This is a worldwide event and any dangerous practise would be flagged up very quickly indeed.

Not it isnt , what they have done is nothing to do with safety and efficacy trials , once they are done they have cut the length of time it take to process it , the medics and the companies will not put out a vaccine that has not been properly tested to millions of people , it would ruin them if it is not safe , think about it , it is scientists and not gov making this vaccine

23 Oct adds 40 to total 65 after 2 days (32 added to day 2 last Sunday)

22 Oct adds 17 to total 124 after 3 days. (10 added to day 3 last Sunday).

21 Oct adds 6 to equal 131 after 4 days. Zero added to day 4 last Sunday and 131 is the highest England Hospital death count on one day since 26 May and the highest at day 4 since 20 May.

20 Oct adds 1 to equal 121 after 5 days. (Highest 5 day total since 26 May).


Other add ons are 19 Oct adds 3 = 102, 18 Oct adds 1 = 85, 15 Oct adds 1 = 86.

The other death was in August.

Agreed - and not suggesting China are squeaky clean - but I would add to what Kaz said for those blaming China like Trump that they sent the code to the world at the end of last year on discovery when they were still in the thick of it and gave a head start on vaccine production to nations who were still months away from it reaching them. That made a big difference too. As unlike some governments science saw quickly this was a risk of going global given its infectivity.

NHS staff being actively encouraged to have flu jab. If decline you have to fill in a form stating reason why you are not willing to have it. Not compulsory as you can't make someone have it but really being encouraged

Notwithstanding the sad individual tragedies of Covid - cold statistics indicate that world population grows on average every day by 220,000 souls that's each and every day even after subtracting average global daily deaths.
Now taking the average 4000 daily global covid deaths from that - the Population of the Planet still grew by 216,000 people a day even allowing for any under or over counting of covid deaths.
The pandemic has not even put a dint in the real problem we face which is mass over population across the world.
