You won't go wrong with PC&L.
Then move on chronologically to Low Life and then Brotherhood.
Thank you, I will give these a listen.

Sounds good already. Hopefully a couple more good ones to be addedHeads up, they are playing at Heaton Park next June with Hot Chip supporting. Gonna assume it will be the day before Parklife.
Other way round for me. Find JD too depressing (same with Radiohead)... I like my music to be upliftingOne band I've never got into. I loved JD though.
Moston Fields Primary School?I’ll hold my hands up here,
I’ve got loads of respect for New Order but they’re not my go to band because they came a bit late for me.
However, I can speak up with a big shout out for Peter Hook -because my daughters went to school with his daughter.
Him & Carolyn Aherne were good people from what I saw of them at school evenings & nativity plays etc. But it did kick off a sometimes, most notably at a nativity, if I’m right from memory, when Carolyn kicked him in the spuds for some reason.
Absolute tragedy what happened to her & and, in many ways, to him, because IMO they were magnificent with each other in the right situation.
Uplifting like 'Suffer Little Children' ? : /Other way round for me. Find JD too depressing (same with Radiohead)... I like my music to be uplifting
Don't be at it mate because 'Heaven knows I'm miserable now'Uplifting like 'Suffer Little Children' ? : /

I am 32 and have recently appreciated music more than I ever have. I have enjoyed discovering new music from the past and present having reached saturation point with lot of mainstream indie/rock.I’m always envious of people like you as you’ve got all this great music to discover. Give ACR a go too.
"At least Ian had the fucking guts"Morrissey hints at misery, where as Ian Curtis meant every word he sang.
Don't think either band would claim to be regarded as great live bands tbh. Never too sure what New Orders excuse was whereas with Mark it was probably how much he'd had to drink beforehandOne of the worst live bands i have seen on par with the Fall but at least with Mark E you held your breath to see what would unfold
It feels like so many more than that :-)One song out of 72 they recorded......
you know the drill..Moston Fields Primary School?
My 2 girls were there and I turned up for the Nativity play one year and I scanned around the hall and there was Hooky wearing a Russian fur style winter hat and video recording it.
I nudged the parent next to me and said "That's Peter Hook from New Order over there..."
I then realised i was in my late 30's with a 8 and 6 year old, while the woman I nudged was a 21 year old with a 6 year old, when she said "Who?"
Yes Ceremony was only performed live by JD and then recorded by NOI am 32 and have recently appreciated music more than I ever have. I have enjoyed discovering new music from the past and present having reached saturation point with lot of mainstream indie/rock.
I'm enjoying New Order's early stuff, you can hear the transition from JD in to NO, it's kind of a hybrid NO-JD before they fully take the electronic route. Ceremony is a beautiful tune which would sum this up although I think it was originally a JD track never released.
Joy Division and New Order famously through Factory records never put singles on the Albums. Hence the Substance compilations. New Order only started releasing singles from the Technique album onwards
