Feelings towards the current side

He is a young player, outstanding talent but very inconsistent as you would expect.

He will get his chance to be a regular in this side when he is ready.

Ha the old his time will come excuse, we can’t put a inconsistent Foden and others in. We have too many inconsistent older players we need to pick first.

Quality logic

I think the side is a bit meh but for some reason I think we will still win the league.

pep is a genius.

We're a missed penalty and a rare drop on the 6 yard line by the keeper that got punished, away from being one point off the top. FFS. We just need to start taking the chances.

They are not shite. Did you watch City at Spurs or City v Utd last season.

Had this City side played Foden in midfield, or Bernardo we'd have probably won but also possibly been hit by a counter-attack like what happened vs Spurs.

Pep has been criticised for not being pragmatic and not doing what is best for the group.

He knows this group better than you do. He can see that we aren't efficient at taking chances so when we come up against a side that have a Fernandes and Rashford, we have to go with an element of caution.

To do otherwise would be high risk. We can not take too many more defeats this season. Taking a point away and damaging a rival in the process is not so bad. See Chelsea. Lost at Everton and deservedly too.

We are in the title race now and this is how we are going to do it. Win at home. Draw away (obviously not every single game though)

If you think United aren’t shit, bar the odd good performance, when United were back once again, then fair enough. Cough!

They have let in *17 goals* this season, and won most of their games in the last 10 minutes, along with getting some very dubious penalties and decisions.

They have two players who would get into our team. Rashford and Fernandes. Perm the rest into our squad.

West Ham should have beaten them last week but failed to take numerous goal chances. Leipzig scored 3 goals against them, should have scored more, absolutely battered them, and United only got back into the match with a soft and very debatable penalty, and a Maguire fist goal.

Bias aside as a City fan. Even playing the way we’re playing, and the team Pep put out, and the players he ‘didn’t use’ on the bench, we should have beaten this average to good at times United team.

No offence Marvin. But if you think City are in the title race atm, then you’re....(fill in as appropriate)

PS. When Liverpool beat Fulham today, City will be 8 points behind them already. OK, we’ve got a game in hand. I don’t think Spurs will last the pace. Thankfully Chelsea lost last night. It’s a fight for a top 4 place for City this season as are as I’m concerned.

You always pick experience over youth, especially when the going gets tough.

It never seems to be the right time though, does it?

If we're doing well then people think we'll drop in quality if we put a young player on and if we're doing poorly then people don't want to put that young player into a thankless situation.

I'm all for "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" but there's this weird mindset on here where people have convinced themselves that playing Phil or any other academy player is some kind of huge risk.

Other teams manage to do it a damn sight more than us. A lot of those teams are currently better, too. In all competitions, Curtis Jones has as many games for Liverpool this season as Foden has for us. He's almost a year younger, has only been with the first team since last season and is an utterly unremarkable player.

I don't know, people can sit here scratching their heads and trying to retrofit some kind of logic behind the decisions being made but, to me, it makes no sense whatsoever.
Agreed, but the absolute minimum is top four this season, if we fail to get that, we have serious issues in terms of recruitment and finances.

While he can make mistakes and lacks occasional consistency,he has never disappeared.

And if you want to label that criticism in his direction, please help me understand why others, who are equally or more guilty of such, continue to play?
He looks ordinary sometimes and as said , only to be expected in this stage of his development.

Last season people talking of him as a direct replacement for even a veteran David Silva were fantasising.

Meanwhile players at other clubs with far less ability will be going to the Euros while Phil watches on tv

The league is not gone yet ffs. But if the gap gets bigger than 5 when all teams have played equal amount of games then yes we will be struggling. We need to be within 5 of the leaders at all times. However it is such a freak season who knows what will happen? We have stopped conceding for example.

He's a different player to Silva so even if there abilities were of a similar level that wouldnt have happened.I think it was more his inclusion that was the thinking.

It’s cliche corner today

What you do is drop players out of form, you also eventually make your mind up on players. Experienced players dont have much room for improvement so if one is inconsistent then using Foden is much more sensible because guess what playing more gets you more experience.

Not bringing Foden on yesterday was a disgrace tbh.

Never going to be a regular in this team at his age/development.

His England misdemeanor showed he still has a lot to learn, on and off the pitch.

He is without doubt the most talented player we have produced for a very long time and with good care will be a future legend, but he still has to be looked after.

It's not so much the hugging, smiling, laughing, joking, etc, it's the non existent look of disappointment, frustration, and realisation that the team we've just played.......(fill in as appropriate), and drawn 0-0 against, are a shite United team, who have been letting in goals for fun all season, have lost plenty of games this season, and were there for the taking.

I'd be walking off utterly frustated and disappointed with the result and the teams overall performance, bar individual players, John Stones being one of those players.
And what kind of team are we atm?

Turgid and toothless on the pitch and as you say against a shite Utd team we never looked like scoring a goal and that has been the case most of the season.

I feel sorry for the lad you don’t get international tournaments back. And you’re right other players are getting smoke blown up their arses who will go and ain’t as good.

What has happened to the team that used to impose fear in the opponents before a ball was even kicked?
I look at the team at this moment and there are only 3/4 players that look like they're interested, that be Phil, Torres, Jesus and Dias - and the former two don't seem to get a sniff.
Gone are the good days of having a proper leading in the side to put a rocket up their arses like Kompany, Barry, Zabba, Hart used to do. I stand by what I said the other week - there are too many mercenaries in this team only playing for their own personal gain. Until they're gone for more younger, hungry, energetic players then we will never change. Txiki, Pep and Soriano should hang their heads in shame.

And last season if you don’t mention it you get the Covid excuse which is a cruel virus that only affects football clubs from east Manchester.
