Thanks. Those figures are chilling. Even with a full lockdown it must be touch and go whether or not the vaccines can outrun the pace of this new variant. When you think of the long-term health impact of lockdowns themselves that would be the worst possible outcome. The sacrifices made by so many would have been in vain. The way this has been managed has really been a national scandal.
Politicians have been making this analogy all day long but remember the virus starts off at maximum speed and slows down, and he faster we vaccinate, the slower the virus goes.

The first thing we need to look for is a drop in the hospitalisation of the over 80s then people might feel more confident

A thought I had earlier.

We know a lot of people don't listen to the news/conferences etc, so put it on every channel, no choice to turn it off, make it difficult to avoid hearing it.

A great opportunity this evening would before the football, how many will tune in to that ? If it's on there before kick off, then a lot more people will hear the message. It also gets through to every age group, and pretty much every part of our multi cultural society.

One of the biggest things they have missed throughout this, is getting it through to everyone, this could/should have been done through messaging to groups through their interests, such as sport, music, religion etc etc, yet they have never tried that.

The tier system for me was a huge mistake. All it did was divide the country further. In times of a national crisis you can't have some parts of the country allowed certain freedoms and others not, it just causes resentment. It was also ludicrous with a pub two miles up the road from another allowed to open while the other one had to remain closed. The blame speech doesn't help either. Even top experts have denounced this negativity. If people keep on hearing they're not complying and if they don't they will be punished, when the majority are, even the most compliant will get fed up.

It’s a proper shit situation, I feel for you. I have a few mates and Father in the same boat.

However there are ways to food shop cheaply, and it’s better to struggle now than have a family without you by the off chance you ended up dying from it.

I know that’s a bit blunt but it’s the way me and my mates have been talking about it.
Anyone struggling should check out https://communitygrocery.org.uk/ based in Sharston. If you're also in the North Manchester area I may be able to get some small food parcels delivered - just PM me

Oops - capitals!

THIS IS SHOUTING EACH POST

What I do isn't.

My capitals flag up headline only so those looking for the data in the midst of fast moving threads with hundreds of posts going in can identify them when they need them.

You do seem to look for things to criticise. No idea why Kaz.

But I don't want to drive you away,

Someone should:-)

the virus starts off at maximum speed and slows dow

I know what you mean, but I think that's not really a good way to describe it. The virus grows exponentially - the more virus there is, the faster it grows. It is accelerating now, and will accelerate ever faster unless we act.

One stat that is easy to read and extremely concerning

It is 24, 957. And 2181 on ventilators - which is as worrying. Though by now it might well be 26, 000.

If you look back to page 98 and 99 from earlier today I post all the data of patients and ventilators for England amd separately for each of the England regions over the past 24 hours.

Be warned the one on page 99 contains a few capitals.

The one on page 98 is relatively immune.

Must have had the vaccine.

Where are you seeing those figures? The gov website hasn’t updated hospital figures since 22nd.
