Just on this subject:

https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-8866/

21st December 2020

Based on the current amount of deaths (80k), that’s £3.5m per death. I haven’t got figures of hospitalisations to hand to see what that would look like. How much do NICE allow for treatments under normal circumstances? (I don’t know how it works.)

edit: read around the subject a little - QALYS and all that. None the wiser. Feel free to expand, or point to articles. Thanks.

I briefly saw these figures shared somewhere (possibly here, unsure), but thought it would be interesting to bring them up. I wouldn’t be able to analyse or come to any conclusions, and I don’t have interest in such things currently.
It’s not just the cost to businesses, it’s the health consequences of those costs that needs to be included (when the economy shrinks, the least well off suffer most).

at a wider level, countries in Africa, South America etc are going to see a widening of the gap similar to between the rich and poor in most developed countries after this has gone (or when governments decide it is time to accept it as part of life, spring 2022 or whenever that is)

months later, eyes still red and itchy, but on the plus side have acquired permanent sexy gravelly voice

sadly I haven't spoken to a fanciable girl in over a year

close food delivery, neighbours have 5 a week

on the other keep costa open because I like them

thermometer to every household would be an idea but remember to enclose a note reminding people mercury overdoses are not a reliable method of suicide

govt need to entice people like me to stay home. not me, because you can't get me out the door. but it's still worth putting out there.

I had a moment falling asleep on the sofa when I rejoined with my 14 year old self. I was in our form room. And in my lounge. I could feel I was the same person with the same soul. Could have swapped places and not missed a beat. Is that good or bad? Good, innit. As far as unreal experiences go, there was something real about that one. I can't tell that kid anything. I'd have to hope my lessons had been learned. How lonely would he be now? No mum, no dad, none of those guys kicking around. No school tomorrow. No dogs. Stick him in front of the internet for a month and see what happens, LOL. Oooh. That explains a lot.

Live well and be good. Be nice. It'll save you a lot of explaining to your older self.

Supermarkets are a fucking nightmare lots with no masks so many just dawdling as if on a day trip.

Maybe the people who have no mask are exempt, if that's the case there should be a national exemption card to carry about.

It would be good if the supermarkets could allow only certain people within an age range at certain hours, eg vulnerable elderly people.

Have no idea how it could be implamated,, maybe it's a bad idea i don't know.
These idiots don't believe in it but they'll want their jab. Challenge anyone of them, it's bullshit according to them but they are quite prepared to have the vaccine.
The supermarkets REALLY should clamp down though. Stop hiding behind the mask lunacy, if you can't wear s mask it doesn't stop you wearing a visor. You don't want to wear either then fuck off somewhere else.

After a couple of bad experiences I changed supermarket in April, and since then I've never really had a problem, the people using the one I use are mostly great, I also changed the day I shop to Monday, it's generally quiet early afternoon when I go. Can't do the same time every week obviously, but I stick to that as much as I possibly can.

A Derby County side decimated by COVID19 positive tests is knocked out of the FA Cup by a Chorley side who celebrate in a way which suggests they too will be decimated by COVID19 positive tests in the not too near future but hey ho the vaccine is on its way...........let’s hope I’m wrong.......
To be honest, if people (footballers in this case) can't take responsibility for themselves (and ultimately their own families and friends they go home to), why should we be bothered ? Other than they can super spread to others not involved.

I'm at the point that football should be stopped, other than at the very elite level, and even there, I'm not convinced it should continue.

At Chorley ? LOL I doubt anyone is tested before or after, if so who's paying for it ? I'm sure Chorley aren't.

The players have had tests and isolated up to 10 days ahead of the game, do some research.

plus they’re playing footie for 90mins and getting changed in the changing room, so I’m sure this celebration for the biggest win in the clubs history isn’t going to make any difference whatsoever

Ah the it's only once/twice/three times line and that's not from the Lionel Richie song. I'm sorry I don't know but I just can't accept that all the people in there had been tested even if they had tests are not 100% accurate.

At the moment every action matters.

Turn away people with no masks and who don’t sanitise their hands from supermarkets. No mask, no entry; won’t sanitise your hands at the door, see ya! If you can’t wear a mask for medical reasons you cannot go in and must only get your food delivered to home.

Turned away from the supermarket if you’re not on your own and the person with you isn’t a carer or a parent with their kid(s). Groups of teenagers should be told to fuck right off, as should couples who seem to think the supermarket is a nice place to go for a stroll together while it’s lockdown.

Fines should be handed out to parents of teenagers who are congregating outdoors or in supermarkets (teenagers in supermarkets seems to be a bit of a ‘thing’ now, hanging around the car park for hours or even going inside in groups).

Close non-essential shops. I mean, they’re supposed to be closed anyway but Costa and Starbucks seem to be given a special status of essential businesses during this lockdown, what the fuck’s that about? Queues out the door when I’ve walked past after work this week. How is coffee from massive chains essential when local small business coffee shops are closed?

No meeting anyone from another household for exercise outdoors. Even go as far as a period of 10-14 days where nobody is allowed to leave home to exercise. Too many people are coming into close contact with other people. Similar to isolating, it’ll help bring numbers down somewhat.

Parents who can’t be arsed with their kids at home while they’re working from home should be told to fuck off by schools when they’re trying to dump their kids on the school pretending they’re a key worker.

January Vocational exams should have been cancelled outright from Monday. I’ve had kids in exam rooms this week during a new faster spreading strain of a pandemic when we’re supposed to be in lockdown (although we have now given them an option not to attend if they can’t or don’t want).

Bosses should be letting employees work from home if they can, not making them come into work and see if they can get away with it.

Cancel all intercontinental sports. No internationals, no Champions League. People shouldn’t be crossing borders at the moment. And none of this fucking travelling to Dubai like our women’s team have.
The Morrisons in Denton never have any Antibac or towels for cleaning the trolley handles or for hand use, I always carry some with me but a lot don't

That entire dressing room plus anyone who has close contact with them such as family should be made to self isolate for 10 days. Absolute state. In fact all footballers should be made more aware of their actions. Why the fuck were we in one big huddle after smashing the rags. Arsenal players all piling on top of each other earlier. It’s a joke.
City did the same after beating United as well tbf.

I might have posted this before in here, but seeing a couple shopping together - one with a mask and one without - it’s incredibly frustrating and points to a complete lack of intelligence/appreciation for the situation we are in.

If the mask less one is exempt from wearing a mask, WTF is that person doing in there? Send the one in who can wear a mask.

I think as you say, a lot of ppl desperate for stuff to do and using the supermarket as a ‘day out’.

Mate it’s too true , on Friday saw a disabled women been to b and m with little storage units

it gets my back up as me and my partner can’t goto gym which is bloody good for us , my Toddler can’t do her groups but the people who we meant to protect do stuff like that

people can’t take responsibility for there own actions, if it was upto me , you would only be allowed to shop once a week and anyone with underlying health conditions should stay at home and pretty sure volunteers could get shopping etc

can’t argue with much of that

Spot on. Chris Whittey is calling for tougher measures today; perhaps we should start with these. I believe Johnson is going to 'think about it' and be forced into a decision a fortnight on Thursday.

So players hadnt played a match for 10 days or trained. Self isolating is staying at home and not going now. So chorley players had no preparation for 10 days wow !!

Seemed alot of non players in the changing room.

Imagines like that dont help the 'stay at home' message, if I hadnt seen my dad for months but saw that video, would I go round my dads ? All I have done for 10 months now is eat, sleep, work..

We have hospitals at breaking point, meant to be in a hard lockdown, yet sport carries on. My work, the wife and son and gf work carry on. The roads just as busy. The same faces every day in the town, all in groups on their mobility scooters 5 or 6 of them every day !. Why arent people doing a weekly shop why every day ?

I am getting fed up ( and scared now ) with it so many people not taking it seriously. Had another test yesterday as a work mates mum is positive. My lads gf who lives here works in intensive care, she is looking knackered and is only 23.
There are clearly more people working in this lockdown. When working in town the public come up to you and take offence when you back away as they are right in your face without masks because its outside. I wear a mask in town even when outside.

I am jealous of the people who have been able to work from home in their safety of their homes and have saved a fortune on travel expenses. Or of the ones that have been furlough my mate will have been on furlough for 12 months by march, he has never been as fit !
You have the radio on and all you hear is ' have you learnt a new skill' ' have you started getting fit' what diy projects have you done on furlough.
The country seems obsessed with the people on furlough, couldnt give a shit about the people working non stop or the poor bastards that have lost their jobs.
Its tough going to work every day thinking is this the day I catch it, must be even harder for the NHS workers I really dont know how they keep going. Heros all of them.

So that's how I feel about covid19 so when I see a picture of chorley dressing room it pisses me off. I havent seen family or friends for 10 months now but football and other sports just carry on like normal rubbing our faces in it. Oh look what we can do , when in real live we are scared to go anywhere near our workmates, wear masks and gloves around each other, disinfect all the time , whilst sports people are allowed to enjoy life , hug each other etc !

Sunday morning rant over

Stay safe everyone. .
