Felt a bit perkier this morning but as the afternoon has progressed I’ve sank. Sat in my parka wrapped in a huge blanket with the heating on (which is a fan heater which makes me wretch as it’s that dry heat).

I’ve been slightly sick and appetite gone.
Temp raised now and I feel utterly useless and that weird depression you get.

Horrid....

Stick in there blue. Plenty paracetamol and as @BlueAnorak recommends some high in strength vitamin D. It'll get better.

Paracetamol or ibrufen and fluids , dont wrap up in anything thick, you will just keep your temp high ,sleep if you can , if you having any trouble breathing then call 111 for advice

Get well soon mate.

Well I may have, but I got it from here:

"The analysis in this section of the article is based on blood test results taken from a randomly selected subsample of individuals aged 16 years and over, which are used to test for antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. This can be used to identify individuals who have had the infection in the past."

"The estimate is weighted to be representative of the overall population, and suggests that an average of 3.9 million people aged 16 years and over in England would have tested positive".

They provide figures for the rest of the UK as well, totalling 4.4m.

Cheers for finding and sending the link, always appreciate it.

Yeah couple of comments, I guess the two main things are that the serology survey was done up to November, and infections have rocketed since then, so that figure of 3.9m is old (ons estimate ca. 4m+ from mid Nov to 30 Dec, then there's a couple million more in January).

Secondly it's an antibody test which they freely admit doesn't work at low levels and won't work in some cases as the antibodies go (current estimates 5 to 8 months), so cases will be missed from the start of the epidemic, which we're learning are higher than thought.

Id still be confident 10m+ have had it in England, or ca. 18%+

Get a small window open if you can. Get rid of the fan. It'll probably be doing you more harm than good by recycling shite air.

Wasn’t overly concerned initially but it’s got a royal bite and there’s more than a few stories of generally fit folk having it prolonged for months.

Im going anti-vaxx/anti-mask plandemic hunting when I’m out of this...they’ll be getting the double barrels if I see any trying it on (purely verbally of course)...hard enough with family members utterly brainwashed.
I hope to Christ vaccine passports are introduced....look how it’s made me think!

I’ve come off ‘socials’ (I can barely concentrate anyway) as the slight delirious brain is getting increasingly angry...

Thanks Kaz.
I go from shivering intensely to my head throbbing with heat.

I think part of it is this flat...it’s a cold flat with an awful source of heating (dry).
Cannot wait to move on....2021 started so well for me and now this.
Pools of condensation other times...

what’s the recommended amount I can take of birth ibuprofen & paracetamol?

Although I have mild asthma this only usually presents as me clearing my throat with coughs (especially when running) but I have brown steroid & blue inhalers.
Feel really heavy so presumably thus is low oxygen levels....I’ll go drink some fresh air in through the window.

What day do you turn a coconut into a friend?

Thanks mate.

Probably doing this already but doc once said to me to take paracetamol around the clock. Don’t just have two and then leave it hours. Better to take 2 every 4 hrs whilst awake so it’s permanently in your system.

10m? Yeah maybe.

It's interesting to read the thoughts of people on here from last March. Here's the thread for which the next few pages are interesting I think. The realists (like me) and the head in the sand deniers saying (in terms) it's a storm in a teacup.

Just read a few pages of that, I had already started being very cautious out and about it by then, as it was clearly spreading here (little did we know it had already spread badly).

I'm happy to admit that I was still sceptical about some of your posts, I guess that just makes me an optimist, I had already expected a lockdown here, and in fact was already thinking we were too slow to react

Thanks Kaz.

Take two paracetamol 4 hrly , dont take neurofen if you have asthma , take your inhalers as usual . Opening a window is a good idea . I would like to tell you when you feel better but it varies , if this is its second go then get through to ten days in total and you will be ok

I wonder when we will know about the effect of vaccination on transmission?

They could test a group of vaccinated healthworkers to see if any present with virus levels in nose and throat, but it would take ages. You'd have to wait until they get infected like in a clinical trial even though they work in a high risk setting.

I wonder what happened to those challenge trials? THis sounds like an ideal way to test whether the vaccines are sterilising or not. Or maybe there's some laid down procedure? Does anyone know about how they do this?

This is important really because if we know that the vaccines cut transmission entirely or very substantially then you could start to use them in a very targeted way to cut infection in those regions where the epidemic is growing strong;y of threatening ICU capacity. There is a lag time though between vaccination and increased immunity.

I can see the outcome of this work changing the vaccine strategy maybe not to supercede the top risk categories but i we have 20m vaccine doses in the UK already then there should be capacity to do interventions. At the moment there isn't any information in the public domain about this so I don't think that they can do this but if they were to find that one of the vaccines is sterlising or nearly so it would be huge. I expect Pfizer or the other pharmaceutical companies are working on this. Or Sputnik V. Imagine the impact on marketing, political prestige etc. This is really what the WHO or government/{Porton Down should be doing. We were told they were doing this but there's been no mention of it since I think JVT talked about it in a Downing St press conference some while ago.

I am pretty sure the challlenge trials got the go-ahead some while ago.

I am beginning to think they are horrendous so are releasing them really late at night and hope nobody notices

I have a similar feeling, if the figures were low there would be reason to delay them. I suspect they are very high and they are wanting to confirm the figures.

Doesnt fill be with confidence,
