I know that feeling. I get the bus to work and was wearing a mask and gloves back from February. In the supermarket I could see people looking at me like I had two heads just because I had a mask on.It's basic psychology.
We behave how we perceive others to behave.
If flouting the rules is perceived as normal, more people will follow.
We can all help by (1) following the rules and (2) Saying that we and most other people are following the rules.
People don't generally like to be the misfit. At the start of this, I felt like a right prat wearing a mask in a shop. . Why? Because nobody else was.
When I see Cummings Ferrier Ferguson Sturgeon Rees-Mogg, Benjamin Mendy, Kyle Walker, Ian Brown or anyone else breaking covid rules or talking bollocks, it doesn’t make me or most people I know think “yeah, if they’re doing it, I may as well too”.
It makes me think “I’m the fucker who needs to set an example to everyone”
