Just back from my jab in Royton, smooth operation, 10 mins in a queue.

Given the AZ one, told they'll be in touch in around 12 weeks and sent out of the building straight away.

Everyone having it look around my age 57. Got a very slight headache over my right eye but otherwise fine so far.
57 right:)

That is good news.

Worth saying that the honest concern that was expressed about the delay in delivering the 2nd Pfizer dose was more about whether efficacy would drop after 3 weeks than if it provided good protection initially. Folk in their '80s are used to taking medicine at the intervals prescribed, not seeing those intervals extended for whatever reason, however sensible.

Nice one. How old mate ?

44 but Asthmatic - i got flu about 5 years back and ended up in hospital on Oxygen and felt like i was drowning for about 2 days so i have genuinely been shitting it the last year as i think it would have been brutal and feel like it is a miracle i have not had it. Been in Town every day and on site, my kids have had it and tonnes of people i have known.

this vaccine rollout is very scattered, friend under 30 has had one this morning and there must be some funny technicality to get them one this early.
Age is not the only criteria at all. Vulnerability is. Of themselves or someone they live with.

Now they have got through most down to 60 (and pretty much all within a couple of weeks probably) age will take second place to underlying conditions even more because the sub 60 age risk is not a steep drop like the 60 - 65, 65 - 70 , etc upper age ranges are - nor genetic factors that likely only the GP will know are relevant.

My GP told me that were I still a full time carer as I was for 14 years up to a couple of years ago I would have got mine in January. A month before I did. Just for that reason not age related at all as it was protecting a more vulnerable person who could not avoid contact with me daily.

It is a sign the vaccination programme is going better than expected not cheating.

I know a 25 year old girl who's had hers early. Underlying health condition and lives in an area that is pretty sparcely populated. Fair fucks to her. 1 more done.

Are you sure they didnt look around 54?

Top news Blue.

I had exactly the same feelings a few weeks ago. I work with vulnerable children at school and I'm a Foster carer. I have no underlying health condition and I'm reasonably fit. I slept on it for a night and then decided to have the vaccine. As I look after children in my own home and I have a Foster child with a disability, I decided it was the right thing to do. Its really difficult but you have to put things in perspective and make your choices with what's right for you and your circumstances!

Thank you - a really helpful post.

My wife is classed as vunerable and I have been caring for her both in late 50s and haven't heard a peep. Rang the gp and told don't ring us again you'll be notified as they are all out doing vaccinations got on website and couldn't get anywhere

Seems the government have learnt their lesson and are downplaying expectations. Based on current rates I think all over 50s will be done within a month or so and the whole population by mid year. Going to Wembley for the League Cup final is a real prospect imo. It may be a bit too soon but I think there's a chance.

Zoe App today predicts cases up to 14, 063 - 3% increase. They are usually in the ballpark. And cases usually do rise Wednesday to Thursday.

My mum was 90 and had literally been bedbound for 14 years needing total care and extensive daily contact. So I imagine that was a factor too.

It will be a complex balancing act of features but the point is age will be much less a factor in the under 60s than the over 70s. When they reach that level. Which will be soon.

Obviously some areas have run ahead of others as they will have different local demographics. A seaside town may have more over 80s retired there than a rural community for example. Even if they got the same number of doses for population one would cover all the most aged vulnerable faster than the other.

The difference is days and weeks so it is not really an issue as this is not a race between towns its a race against the virus by humanity.
