Going to be a bit tricky though on a worldwide scale I think is the point. I’ve got faith we will stay ahead of the curve. But possible to minimise.
Less cases = less chances to mutate

They probably found one then spent a few days sequencing every other test in the area to identify the post codes to blitz test. The gov announced the new variant today. Facing where i live in bristol, a large disused office building with lot's of parking. About a week ago around 20 mobile testing unit vans arrived, been no activity just been parked up.
Since todays announcement the same vans are on the local newspaper website, saying surge testing will begin in some areas about 15 mins from here. This tells me that the gov knew about these variants at least a week ago.
Not quite the right thread but anyway, got covid in November and struggled ever since with chest, headaches, taste and smell fatigue and aching bones, had the az vaccine at 10.00 am today and been waiting for side effects but omg I feel brand new, tasting my wine was like the first time, chest is clear as a bell headache gone, legs feel like I could go for a run, it’s utterly bizarre, feel like this should be shared with the medical professionals, it’s like I’ve had a miracle drug, how can this be
That would seem rather quick wouldn't it?. My missus had her Pfizer jab yesterday and no side effects, just a sore arm at injection site. So happy days.Posted in here a couple of days ago about reports that doctors were getting many calls that Long Covid symptoms were disappearing after the vaccine. You are not alone it seems.

Bristol had just finished a surge test on the south African variant on the 21st of feb 40,000 tests were taken. The

So it’s taken 2 weeks for this news to filter through, meanwhile no new cases identified as a result it seems. Certainly not an outbreak anyhow.
Perhaps I’m biased, but it does seem slightly manufactured for this news to be announced on a Sunday evening after the first good weather weekend of the year, at a time when the good news could see people become complacent. We’ll see.
Quoted this earlier from earlier but came off line but saw you later post (replying to i8 rags below.Anyone in here had long covid and the vaccine? There are reports from doctors it seems that they are seeing patients who have struggled for months post covid with the now familiar long term issues finding symptoms clearing after the vaccination. Excellent news if this proves widespread.
Made my day. Do as I say not as I do my deluded followers (the same ones that spout out the ‘sheeple’ line).RW deluded fuckwit Hitchens has his jab then rages against being "forced" to have it and blaming on Blair. He is now getting pelters from the anti-vaxxers he has encouraged on Twitter - so is that other mad deluded RW anti-vax promoter Swayne who guess what? - yep he has had his first one too - charlatans the lot of them

Hilarious. No-one's put a gun to his head and forced him to have the jab. But his actions confirm something I predicted - that the shouty bastards saying they definitely won't be having the vaccine will fold like a pack of cards when they realise that it might stop them doing the things they want to do. Many will try to claim that they haven't had it but will get it on the sly so they can fuck off to Benidorm or wherever on the piss with their mates.RW deluded fuckwit Hitchens has his jab then rages against being "forced" to have it and blaming on Blair. Unreal if they can get anywhere close to double the current numbers. It will also mean no slowdown when more require their 2nd jabs in the coming weeks. Your prediction of when the whole adult population will be done (mid-June wasn't it?) might actually end up being on the cautious sideAs I have been l speculating/hoping the rate of vaccinations will be hugely increased this month. Nadhim Zahawi has said this morning that the government is aiming to double the rate of the last 10-11 weeks in the next 10-11 weeks.
This is getting done at a cracking pace.
By done I meant fully done. This would mean that the younger age groups (say under 30s) would receive the Johnson & Johnson single shot vaccine as even if the final second second shots could be delivered sooner the evidence says that it is not advisable.Unreal if they can get anywhere close to double the current numbers. I agree with this. I think there is a bit more that's gone into the 21st June end date than has been publicly declared.I reckon all the adult population will have received at least one dose way before mid June and most will have had their second.
Yeah, it feels that way, especially as they're talking about a huge upscale on the already impressive daily/weekly vaccination numbers. Of course, we need to be wary of obstacles but the way it's going so far, the only thing stopping everyone getting the jab by sometime in June is if our supply is sabotaged or some scouse twat nicks the fucking lot!I agree with this. We are flying towards the end point.
Yea , seems to have gone down a month in the last couple of daysMy brother-in-law did that vaccine calculator thing online last week (I'm not sure how accurate that really is but its all we've got), it predicted he'd be getting his first shot in mid-May. He's done it again this morning and it's now saying April !
Mine's done the same. Dropped from 'sometime in June' to 'sometime in May'Yea , seems to have gone down a month in the last couple of days
