What does not stack up with that data is the fact that they still seem to be vaccinating the older age ranges. Plus 2054 yesterday or even 8853 last week are not high numbers at all.
But the data will be right, seem to be still doing older or taking spot figures are just your perception. All the UK vaccination numbers dropped last week and aren't back up to maximum yet, as we were expecting.

Hancock also added that they have narrowed down the missing patient with the dangerous variant to just 379 households in South East England. They are checking them all one by one. So I assume they will soon know who this is.

Scotland data:

33 deaths - was 56 last week

542 cases - 655 last week

4,4% positive - was 4,8% last week

784 in hospital - down 40 in day - was 1076 last week

71 ventilated icu - same as yesterday - was 93 last week.

Hospital numbers falling still at a really good rate

Scotland vaccination data:

1, 634, 361 first doses - 22, 583 yesterday - was 17, 883 day before & 19, 753 last week

84, 445 second doses - 5480 yesterday - was 2353 day before & 5861 last week

England hospital deaths 279 - down from 372 last week on what is often one of the two highest days of the week with weekend catch ups added. Last week it was the highest.

The NW number though is high again at 57 - just one less than last week's 58 - so a high percentage.

It is always high on Tuesdays as it has problems reporting over the weekend to a greater degree than other regions - a factor that has been true for the whole pandemic.

England hospital deaths by age:

0 - 19 (1) 0.3%

20 - 39 (6) 2.2%

40 - 59 (26) 9.3%

60 - 79 (107) 38,4%

80 PLUS (139) 49.8%

11.8% under 60 again. But no other major shift.

These numbers are of limited value and may never fall much lower but the shift that has occurred has been in the expected direction to support the impact of reduction in deaths on older ages.

Northern Ireland data:

2 deaths - was 5 last week

149 cases - was 225 last week - third successive day under 150 cases.

8.4% Positivity - was 12.2% last week

25 care home outbreaks - down 1 on yesterday - was 47 last week

7 day rolling cases total 1440 - down from 1551 yesterday and 1929 last week

289 patients - down 13 in day - was 376 last week

30 ventilated - up 1 on yesterday - was 39 last week.

279 England hospital deaths by region:

58 NE & Yorkshire, 57 North West, 54 Midlands, 46 South East, 26 London, 26 East. 12 South West

22 in North Cumbria highest today.

This is not the first time in past week this trust has had the most UK deaths. Anyone know why?

Dartford at 16 the only other high number.

In the North Wesr Pennine Acute at 9 is the most and 7 in East Lancashire.

England hospital deaths wk to wk:

875 / 109 NW / 13%

767 / 111 NW/ 15%

509 / 109 NW / 21%

474 / 112 NW / 24%

372 / 58 NW / 16%

279 / 57 NW / 20% Today

As you can see the NW percentage is still high but often is with the weekend data.

But overall the numbers are tumbling faster than anyone likely dared hope.

I read similar about UK health workers, something like 25% not taking.

I couldnt really fathom why that would be.

Unless they can't have it for health reasons they should be sacked. They have a duty of care to people they are looking after. Might seem harsh but the more people that turn it down, the longer this will go on and the more lives it will destroy.

Total deaths with out of hospital England to add (usually a largish weekend catch up add on) is 315

wk to wk:-

986 v 849 v 587 v 540 v 437 v 315 Today

More should be done to increase take up but employers are a bit hamstrung in the measure they can take because of big staff vacancies. Brexit might make this worse

It's totally bizarre that someone working in the health care sector should be opposed to medical care involving drugs. It's impossible to see how someone who presents a health risk (by not being vaccinated) should be allowed to work with vulnerable people.

Another sub 1000 3 nations total and good week to week fall.

Based on this you would expect a possible rise in UK numbers to somewhere in the high 6000s.

It is predictable to judge trends in different nations but we will see.

I agree. It’s difficult to recruit carers and it’s not a job many want to do. My mother is receiving end of life care at home and we have carers 4 times per day. I would struggle to do some of tasks they do, with my own mother, never mind with strangers. I marvel at their dedication every day. I don’t think employers are in a position to sack those who refuse a vaccine as they’ve noone to take their place.

Employers can make reasonable demands on employees these days for example in certain professions concerning things like smoking and drinking and the wearing of certain clothing , grooming etc even in an office or retail environment.

Just like all people with symptoms would be encouraged to come forward and have a test for covid all staff can be requested to come forward and be vaccinated at designated hubs and centres etc.

the most important people to vaccinate are those at highest risk and they should be given preference.

then you move through the population.

Even when as many as can be are vaccinated and may require boosters with the passage of time like influenza for example you will still have cases and spread but hopefully good anti viral treatment like some which are proving already to increase the immunity to fight off the disease in elderly people taken with zinc upon early onset along with good quarantine tracing and protective measures with prevention will ensure like can on as normal as before without the requirement for further lockdowns which do a lot more damage to mental health , prevention of diagnosis for many other diseases , the economy , lives , livelihoods and social norms and democracy and basic freedoms than the damage caused by covid.

Sorry to hear about your mum artful as George Harrrison said so wonderfully in his song all things must pass.

Employers must encourage and some for religious reasons and health reasons will decline of course.

BTW what is your favourite tune in Oliver Twist?

Thanks artfuldodger. My Mum has carers coming a few times a day and they do a great job too.
