You're right and also Zinch has played so well. He does get a bit of sympathy from me because the injuries at such a young age have done for him. However, an issue for him is he doesn't seem to have the same football intelligence as the rest of the squadcan count on one hand games he has played where you could say he was excellent.
I can think of 6, not from Burnley are you mate.can count on one hand games he has played where you could say he was excellent.
That's a fair point but none suffered injuries as bad as Mendy, especially because they were recurring and affected both his knees. Even if he is fit and ready to play, he just looks off pace and largely not that good in games he's played. At most it's been, 'there's good signs'You never know. Many though, Stones race was run. Zinchencko, Gundogan, Bernie and a host of others too.
But they all bounced back big, Mendy can too. Let's see how the season plays out.
Consider that Aké is back and in training from next session onwards, his time at club might be done. But as someone else has pointed out, crazier things have happened. Can never rule it out but his injuries don't give me any hope.Said pre match with the heavy rotation policy and upcoming key games, I saw the wolves game as a chance for him to start if he's in anyway in Peps plans for this season. given how Pep utilised Cancelo tonight as an authodox attacking fullback Mendy seemed even more of an option yet he didn't even make the bench. Ominous.
It would be tough. I agree. Just wishing the best for him. That's a fair point but none suffered injuries as bad as Mendy, especially because they were recurring and affected both his knees. But that's where it's stopped and he's been off it game after or dropped.
Considering his last appearance was against Cheltenham where he struggled, it seems like Pep saw something in that match that removed all doubt that he is good enough to be here. Shame it hasn't worked out.
His last was against Swansea and he had a good game actually. Against Cheltenham he was a bit shit, yeah, although that was also overblown a bit (could have easily finished the game with a goal and an assist). I think in general Pep doesn't trust him that he can do the same as Zinchenko or Cancelo in this current system, which sadly is probably true. It doesn't look like anytime soon that we would revert to the forward bombing fullback system, so...Considering his last appearance was against Cheltenham where he struggled, it seems like Pep saw something in that match that removed all doubt that he is good enough to be here. Cancelo played like a traditional LB last night, 1st half especially. For Pep to set us up that way and Mendy to not even make the bench says it all.His last was against Swansea and he had a good game actually. Or maybe against Southampton? If we don't lose against United, I could see some heavy rotating in action.
If we sell him this summer, his outstanding book value is £10.4 million.Cancelo played like a traditional LB last night, 1st half especially. For Pep to set us up that way and Mendy to not even make the bench says it all.
He is done here. I know a lot don't rate him, but I think it is a shame. When we purchased him, there was a player there. I don't believe he was like other poor purchases where we bought a turd player. Injuries killed him.
We will take a massive hit on what we paid for him, but getting any kind of fee/wages off the books is preferable to him sitting around taking up a space in the squad.
I would be amazed if we got anything more than a loan where we pay half his wages. I cant see anyone parting with serious cash for someone with his injury record, especially in the current COVID climate. If we sell him this summer, his outstanding book value is £10.4 million.
If we received anything above that, then it will be booked as profit.
Say we sell him for £20 mill, it would give us a profit of £9.6 mill.
So although we paid £52m for him, in reality we wouldn’t be taking a hit.
Maybe, but let’s wait and see!I would be amazed if we got anything more than a loan where we pay half his wages. I cant see anyone parting with serious cash for someone with his injury record, especially in the current COVID climate.
