VAR - 2020/21

But you're defending VAR.

A system that gets decisions right every now and then doesn't deserve defending.

because I’m weary of getting rid of var and reverting back to the old way of officiating - it’s easy to say you will accept bad decisions from refs but let’s face it, that’s never been the case.

Scrap var, Liverpool player does a ridiculous dive to win a pen and the ref gives it. Then it’s the same outrage and people would say ‘ha funny how the ref gives it now there’s no var’.

I like to think and I maybe wrong that var fucks up on a much less regular basis than a ref if we didn’t have it. I admit I find it hard to swallow when a official can look at a replay and still give it wrong when it’s so obvious. I can’t defend that at all.

You do know someone posted ‘let’s see apologist hammer explain that then bla bla ‘

hence why I said ‘here we go, do I have to explain every bad VAR decision’

There’s no need to be so aggressive. It’s a forum with lots of different views.

I was as perplexed and angry with that decision and I don’t even support City. Its farcical and I’m annoyed as I want a system in place that gets these decisions correct (which it has done on many occasions) because I don’t want penalty’s like that not given which without VAR would have not been given anyway.

As I said. I’d like to hear from the var official who saw that and deemed it not a pen and give an explanation.

I want VAR to work correctly. That is all. It’s not an outrageous opinion.
before without var we was still getting farcical decisions, like we would have done tonight with the ref not giving the penalty

Like I said, you have a lot to say on a rivals football forum about incorrect VAR decisions affecting my team..

Oh and there's no fkin chance you'll hear from the VAR official who saw that and deemed it not a penalty so you can 'like to hear from him all you want', it's not happening..!..

And that is a BIG part of why VAR is corrupt..

Btw, I'm not aggressive, it's called passion, it's called wanting my team to get treated fairly where VAR is concerned, it's called fed up to the back teeth with getting shafted by VAR..

I don't need a West Ham fan coming on here telling me everything will be all right in the end..

We've been royally fucked over again tonight, a fucking shocking decision that will no doubt be swept under the carpet..!

When you have seasoned professionals like Souness calling it out for the shit show it is then you know it's bent..

Anyway, you keep banging on about its virtues, it'll keep you relevant once you've exhausted your 'best of a 100 threads'

I'll help you out there, here's your next one..

100 dodgy as fcuk VAR decisions that have been awarded against Man City'..!

You can have that one for free..!

Yeh a few uncalled for digs as usual. Don’t see the point.

I just give my view and that’s it, and I’ve never said ‘it’ll be alright in the end’ .. I’ve said it has the chance to improve and adapt but no system will he perfect and there will always be shit decisions and controversy.

West Ham have been fucked over by refs and var so I feel the exact same when blatant decisions don’t go for us. See Mike dean on us few weeks ago.

VAR sides with the on field referee's decision more often than not, even if that decision is blatantly and obviously wrong. It's either being used to cover for poor refereeing, or for corrupt intent. My money is on corruption. (either manipulation of the result to make the title race a bit more sporty, or for in play betting purposes).

First penalty; I can see why it was given, however KDB was fouled in a similar situation in the Southampton penalty area, and nothing was given.

The Foden incident was just utter bollocks. However you dress it up, the WRONG decision was made using the SUBJECTIVE 'not a clear and obvious error' bullshit excuse that changes from incident to incident in the same fucking game most weeks.

Mate, enough with the VAR bullshit. You're always on here defending it. It's shit at best, bent at worst

why can not managers question a call and demand a video replay by the referee

if you give each side 1 or 2 big reviews then the club can ask the referee to look at the replay the club coaching staff have seen ? take on VAR and stop clear and obvious mistakes VAR make. also it stops VAR officials coming out weeks later say sorry we got it wrong

Clearly not fit for purpose the way it is currently being implemented. The governing powers in the PL need to take decisive action to improve things otherwise the sport will continue to lose credibility. in the eyes of the masses.

my many arguments against VAR seem to get lost in my reasoning to wanting to keep it and debate about ways in which it can improve.

I do highlight the good it can and has done, many goals and decisions have been turned around correctly thanks to it. Other decisions like tonight are unexplainable and it’s the officials that deserve the criticism, not var. var has only highlighted how bad they actually are.

Going forward they have to take a good look at improving this and more importantly the transparency in decisions - I don’t blame anyone for being against it because when it gets it wrong. It’s a complete shambles.

Despite all this and what I consider a reasonable view, it’s clear by the constant digs that my opinion on all this is not welcome so I will take a step back from this topic.

Exactly. A referee can miss something and he has the excuse of watching it in real time. When VAR makes decisions like that with the benefit of being able to watch the whole thing from 20 different angles and in slow motion, it just makes everyone assume that it must be corrupt. Nothing about that decision suggests incompetence, because no-one can possibly be that incompetent. It's a deliberate decision to not give us a clear penalty at an important point in the game. Gotta keep the league competitive, you see? That's what keeps people watching. Unless it's a history team winning, of course.

I suspect their default response to this will be to make VAR even less transparent. They'll start with removing the offside lines like they do in the Champions League. We should be able to hear everything the officials are saying all the time, and it's only because they have something to hide that we don't have them miked up.

Cricket has a system whereby each side has 2 chances to question a decision. And rugby has the system where the video ref refers the final decision back to the on-field ref after giving his opinion and with everyone seeing the video reviews on the big screens.
Doubt if any of those systems would find favour with the corrupt lot in charge of the EPL.

It wasnt a penalty for them and it was definitely a penalty for us.

VAR should have ensured that happened,it didnt because its being operated by incompetent cunts and is also open to interpretation and abuse.
