VAR - 2020/21

first bit I'm taking the piss, would be kinda funny IMO, second bit is what I thing VAR will merge into, subjectivity giving the teacher's pets an edge due to "subconscious bias".
Fair point about the subconscious bias.

The second bit about VAR judging offside is how I thought it would work before it was introduced last season. I.e. judge it by eye. As a linesman years ago in junior football I realised how hard it is in real time because you have to concentrate all the time, watch for ball out of play, as well as watching the ball being played, as well as watching the back line, and not knowing when it will happen. If you watch a video replay when you know what to look for then it's much easier.

That's how VAR should be used to judge offside. Play it once on video and watch carefully.

Look at the pen on Raheem today. That should not be a penalty. It was the merest of contacts, not enough to floor him. I don't blame him for going down, I have seen him fouled in the box and stayed on his feet and nothing given but its a part of the game I really don't like.
You can travel all over Europe watching City , spend thousands of pounds and something as inconsequential as a slight tap on the leg brings the whole competition to an end. I don't blame the referees for that or even the players but its not good to watch.

this was going on more before VAR.

At least this way the ref has the option to decide if it was a dive or not - if he gets it wrong - that’s on him and no one else.

before, the ref could be given the benefit of doubt from his posistion/view

VAR ? every fucking week something happens. was football really that broken and fucked for clubs to allow it to happen. we all knew football (premier league) was bent and the officials and match referees really did have the power to change results live right there on the spot without a tv replay

just go back and watch the late 90s early 2000 united games and how the officials worked. match referees control the game and the title in most of years united won it ? even fergie time was named because they (united) had to win games that looked lost

but now VAR is really having your cake and eating it. the officials are hell bent in helping the big 2 keep their so called crown kings of england ? why on earth did anybody else vote for VAR knowing it was taking the little to no chance that a small club had of challenging for silverware

forget liverpool or united moaning about a bad VAR review ? because you can bet over the 38 game season it will be 99% in their favour and this last 2 seasons really is a joke of how bad and bent the game is now VAR is in place

just seen the united goal that was so far out and over the line that the BBC commentator sat in the stand flicked it back in play ?? how on earth did that goal stand even the coaches and managers and 4th official on the line could see it was behind them ??

VAR is killing the game and we need a vaccine quicker than covid-19 has found to work on 95% of people who have had the jab. am done with football and until the game is given back or the 2 so called elite teams fuck off to their super league am staying a arm chair fan of manchester city

How often over a season would we get controversial decisions Pre VAR? 3 or 4 times across a whole season maybe there was a shocker that made everyone say we needed VAR. The sell was it would stop those shocking mistakes, the ones that made us all stop and go wow, what the fuck happened there. We no longer would get a Henry against Ireland or other equally horrible decisions. Well VAR couldn’t be any further from that, it now rules the game, it controls all

I would keep goal line technology as I think that is superb, the rest I would scrap 100%. It’s a total sham and is quickly ruining football, the game we all grew up loving is dieing fast and it won’t take to long for that to be reflected in numbers attending and I guess more importantly numbers subscribing to the tv channels.

unfortunately the powers that be see themselves as way above the lowly fan and it will only get worse. More stupid rule changes, more goals disallowed, more moments ruined that should be pure joy.

every time a goal is scored the crowd cheer the same. Nothings changed.
You`ll know what we re talking about when your last minute goal gets cancelled, a feat yet only a few teams suffered. The natural flow of a game has changed for the fan, I m sure the footballers have an opinion which they cannot express.

The closest the Hammers got is when you played the current champions off the park at home near xmas two seasons back. That game could have been 4-1, if not 4-0. The way you guys played deserved the win but came away with a draw, all you got for xmas from the FA was an illegal goal for livarpool.

I know Var was only introduced the following season but I m sure every Hammer fan was not happy and thought "everything is normal here?", after that game.

every fan feels victimised by the officials way before VAR, that will never change.
Liverpool have had the most VAR decisions go against them this season yet it’s constantly pushed that VAR is in place to help them. It just doesn’t add up.

If officials want to decide the game - the last thing they need is VAR - instead of just pointing to the spot at every dive or any tussle in the area - they have to have justification as they get a even better view of the incident, in slow mo, with the rest of the world also seeing what’s happened.

Again, I’m no VAR lover and I do understand so much of the criticism it gets - I’m just stuck in a mindset that if we scraped VAR it would be even more anarchy now, as we would have goals given miles offside, blatant dives given as penalty’s etc

simply, we have to keep improving VAR.

is the reason why liverpool are not getting the same about of VAR decisions as last season is cheats and cheaters need to make it look like its not bent in trying to fool everybody into thinking its clean

you build up liverpool to be this wonder team the best in the world ? only to pick holes out of last season title win with shocking VAR decisions going their way ? you only have to review last season up to the liverpool vs city early doors. the worst cheating by the officials and VAR i have ever seen and know wonder city give up ?

this season is just about the same thing going on with united and the pen count they are racking up
also the way united are winning is ringing alarm bells as to something fishy going on here ? just like liverpool last season teams are folding like a pack of cards after looking great and winning a game only to lose to united ?

if its not bent it would happen once or twice a season not every fucking week ? united are a piss poor team even their own fans are calling them shit ? so how are they only a couple of points of the top of the table ?
