According to Sky News and Martin Samuel, City are the last of the Big 6 to agree to being part of a European Super League with an announcement at 9.30 tonight.

Guess we had no choice. Gutted for Everton, Newcastle, Leeds, Villa etc. Can’t believe we’ve got in to bed with the snakes.

Yep, with them permanently getting 15% more than us, plus of course the 4 games (to begin with) available globally to pay for on their own tv channels...
The reports are unclear, but I didn't interpret it like that personally. Sounded like 15% of the total revenues for this super league are divided between league members on the basis of brand awareness. I think this means if the total revenues was a billion euro, 150m would be divided 20 ways, but in a unequal way based on this awareness shit. So let's say the 'biggest' clubs, say Madrid, United and Juve, for the sake of argument, would get 15m each. And the 5 clubs that qualify on an annual basis, say your CSKA Moscows or Club Bruges, would get 3m each, and everyone else somewhere in the middle in a sliding scale. It's still bullshit and I still hate it, but I'm just saying when you factor in the other 85% of the pot and how that's divided, it doesn't mean that any club is getting 15% more than us overall.

Leave City aside, does FA have balls to challenge United and Liverpool and other London Clubs? No these lame ass statements won't help. Just say clubs will be banned fined heavily for breaking away and then these clubs will fall in line

American football now does not have any relegation or promotion and the clubs there do ok financially.

It is all about the money obviously.

City have no real option it seems to be in it unless real breakaway leagues happen and competitions.

A real split. You do your thing and we do ours say with the remaining PL clubs and other European clubs like PSG and Bayern

It does but it has always been that way hasn’t it.

99% of the worldwide fan base of these clubs support them because they win more than they don’t.

Short term it will great but give it a decade and a half and they will be crawling back to the domestic leagues.

Deano. Like your strong view but sometimes you have to snuggle upto pigs if a pig is the only shag in town. Our owner is not going to torpedo his investment in the City Group by making an early stand however unpalatable. Maybe he signs up in principle and just buys a stay at the poker table to see how the cards land.
Elegantly put my friend,
It sucks dick but you’re right, we’re between a rock and a hard place

If this happens I am no longer a City fan or indeed a football fan.
I agree.

I said at the start of the thread that I love the idea of the format (two groups of ten clubs as the group stage), but having read the detail of who we’re getting into bed with and how it will fuck up the long standing football traditions of this country... I couldn’t be more against it and disgusted at any team who would get involved, including City.

I’d never go and watch them again.
