I think the difference here is the money involved

Winning the champions league nets you about £100mil, but this new league offers €350mil just for participating, €500mil for winning

It may be similarly money influenced, but the fact Arsenal who haven't qualified for the champions league in years are there highlights the other problem

If leicester/West ham got top 4 and then got to the 1st knockout round they'd net about £40mil, a huge sum for them

Now you compare a £40mil cash injection for a team that's earnt it to a €350mil cash injection for one that hasn't its disgusting

No way any of the other 14 can compete with that and basically passes all over those that have tried to aim for sustainability (look at Barca, RM, United debt)
And where will that money go? Will the average fan get any benefit?

Will they fcukaslike.

Owners, players and agents will be salivating like Pavlov’s fcukin pooches.

Owners, players and agents will be salivating.

What would they do to change it though? Same teams allowed in every year, if you don’t get top 4 it’s ok because you are Liverpool or United so you can still play in it fuck West Ham! It’s a shambles and has shown them up for what we all knew they were greedy fucking bastards who only want cash not trophies.
It's absolutely no coincidence that this is timed for more or less when UEFA were about to release info on the new format.
Not sure how they would change if but a few banging of heads and some diplomatic resolve and all will be good in my opinion.

I believed in City being a club like that n'all. In the face of what we've gone through with the Cartel, to end up in bed with them stinks!
Also shows another serious misjudgment from the ‘clever‘ blokes actually running the club. If this idea ever gained traction, they couldn’t have kept us out and, if it crashed and burnt, as it surely will, we’d have been in clover.

I would also like to point out.
FUCK UEFA.
FUCK THE PREMIER LEAGUE.
FUCK THE FA.
FUCK LA LIGA.
FUCK SKY.
FUCK BT.
These organisations have protected these clubs through the years, they have played a huge part in building them into the powerhouses they have become today.
Their moral outrage is comical.
Now this isn't fuck the other clubs, fans etc..
Though it has to be said and noted that these clubs and fans couldn't wait to stick the knife into us over our "alleged" breach of financial fair play, without knowing zero facts.

20 clubs, including five TBD as permanent members once the SL figures out which current non-members can rake in the most fan interest/revenue.

Balanced schedule -- 57 matches -- one home, one away, one in a neutral (read: off-continent) venue.

Top 8 sides make the playoffs; from there, it's just like American sports to get to a final.

Plus there'd probably be a random draw Cup competition.

So figure 70-odd matches a season for the "best" of the sides which approximates what we play now across all competitions (I think).

Fuck sake.

Imagine playing a "big game" every fucking week?

These big games are big because they're every now and then. That makes them special, exciting, affairs. See Dortmund away last week.

This schedule completely misses the fucking point.

We could've sat on the fence and watch it all unfold

And ended up shaping neither, so being at the back of the queue when the deals are being negotiated and agreed with member clubs?

Not sure that was ever a realistic option mate. Our owners aren’t idiots, happy to see their investment tank off the back of a shit deal because they wanted to sit out the court of public opinion!
