I've been trying to sum up how I feel about this and its so sickening. Im 38 years old now and first went in 1989. The one constant thing in my life has been following City.

Yesterday we agreed to get in bed with all the clubs who have been trying to stop us moving forward for the last 10 or so years. Just over a year ago we were banned from UEFA competition and spent fortunes to clear our name.

I have a 5 year old son who is just starting to get into football and City. I have been looking forward to taking him back to City so much. I'm more gutted about the fact I know we will never be able to experience the highs and lows together at a game the way I have enjoyed them with my dad growing up (many more lows but you get the picture).

If this goes tits up and City and the rest are still playing in the Prem then we'll always be (quite rightly) seen as the evil bastards we now are.

It isnt as simple as deciding to support someone else either. The feeling i have for this club can never be replicated for another one.

I dont feel like the club had died, I dont think I'm mourning them. Its more that they have cheated on me. In fact, its like they have been fucking 5 dickheads I've always hated and some other pricks too. And now they've fucked off to live with them.

So to make this clear; you are perfectly happy with a Champions League that has been putting into place an unofficial top four for years, perfectly happy with having a billionaire owner artificially inflate the club competitively through investment, perfectly happy with that owner being of extremely questionable moral character and being the Deputy Prime Minister in a state whose laws are from the 15th century in many social areas, and perfectly happy with us essentially bending the UEFA rules on investment to every possible degree?

All of that you'd continue on. But moving to a different European competition, now THAT'S your line? Not the fact that we had a Gulf state put a billion pounds into us to ensure our "competitiveness"? That didn't hurt the domestic league?

You're overreacting and I think that eventually you and many others will come to your senses on this whole thing. You might not like it but you'll get over it enough to continue.

MK Dons? It's happened before, all that is standing in the way of other clubs ATM is that the authorities won't allow it anymore. Bypass the authorities and...

They *are* making it more like the US system already, by getting rid of relegation. They don't understand how things work over here. People who work with them say the same. And they think in terms of marketability, which includes moving to a bigger market, and rebranding from time to time to follow the latest trends.

And yet no-one is pointing a finger of part-blame for this at any players for demanding such eye-watering money.

Having to find AT LEAST £26,000,000 in profit just to pay one player his basic salary?!?!?

Any big club player that is using the 'greed' or 'lost its soul' argument clearly hasn't got any mirrors in their 25 bedroom house.

manchester city had to change to keep up ? there was no way manchester city was winning a single thing other than promotion and relegation. its was that simple and its the same thing with signing up to the super league

i don't understand why all the moaning is about. from what i heard and seen its a reforming of the champions league and not the premier league ? ok the league cup will be lost to the super league teams. but in farness its one of the lowest competition and they all ready play weaken teams in it

MANCHESTER CITY ARE A BIG CLUB and thank god we are in a place to be seen as a big club and can take on the big boys and beat them

I echo your sentiments.
You’ve been offered a place at the top table of football. It’s what we’ve been after as a club since we had the financial means.
Refusing to be involved would be biting your nose off to spite your face!
It’s what our owner has been aiming for all along I suspect and anything that fucks off UEFA is more than welcome!
Nobody really likes change but I am sure a lot of those who feel very negatively about this will come round (if it ever happens that is...)

Great post. I'm the same age as you and my lad is 6. I was really looking forward to sharing the experience my dad shared with me. Gutted mate.

With the income the SL would generate, tickets wouldn’t even account for 8% of revenue. I’m sure they could make tickets £10 and fill the place up.
 
Loved City and felt so much attachment with the club especially the dark days

I went home and away because I could, bought the kits and merchandise from the official club shop to support the club and bought a pint and a pie at the back of the kippax having banter with mates

It pains me to say it but the past few years the same commitment as gone

Love the club ✔️
Support the team ✔️

But for the life of me I won’t buy official merchandise, I won’t buy food or drink in the ground and I no longer go away games because the point system changed ( double points for premium)

Told to sit down at matches where the atmosphere is fucking shit
Rearrange plans due to stupid fucking kickoff times for TV
Fans sat in front of me with a fucking iPad or big phone taking pictures or FaceTime mates
Banter as gone


I will be honest the only reason I kept ST going for so long (36 years)is for my 11 year old boys hoping and praying that they would have the same love that I have for my club

This fucking plastic money grabbing piece of shit as sucked the fucking life out of me
